My congratulations as well to both winners, have a great series. Will KC start a new streak of crowns, or will Baltimore's October prowess continue?
Well Splinter, with what you've gone through with KC over the last few seasons, I can humbly commiserate a little bit. While keeping the ranting to a minimum I hope:
Atlanta has lost of 5 of 6 playoff series since 2031, getting swept in the last two, including our only WS trip in 5 straight tries.
Meanhile KC in '33 won first place then get swept by a tie-breaker winner; in '34 they lost a tie-breaker-game; then this year they cruised to first place again, only to see a 3-2 series lead get denied. At home.
Perhaps next year we will finally meet and determine who has the harder luck case. Good luck next year, to you Splinter... and to everyone!

Its a tough break, Splinter.
I hope to rep the AL well in the WS.

In looking closer at KC's team, I honestly think I have a better playoff team in the matchup. I have a much better staff. Save 2 pitchers, there is not much to KC's staff.
I use only RHP to start playoff games. KC has ZERO batters in their lineup that are A or A+ PvR. That is not a winning recipe.

Don't get me wrong, BLT is a great team again. A deserving WS team. BLT v SD is always a battle of gladiators.
I've read about the difference between regular season and playoff roster composition. I get that. I've made the conscious decision to be competitive every year, not lose 90 games, and not stockpile top 8 picks. As a result, the big fat power bats rarely fall to me.
But at some point runs are runs. And KC lead the AL and outscored BLT by nearly 50 runs.
There are all sorts of stats from this year that should have pointed to a KC series win, particularly when it was 3-2 KC.
KC 6-3 record at home vBLT this year
Larkin and Fletcher combined 2-6 vKC this year
BLT home road pitching splits...1.17 ERA/runs per game worse (4.00) on the road.
BLT v LHP....244 AVG, .713 OPS.
Overall, the main issue is that ABE decided to make KC gloves turn to cast iron (after he put my #2 SP - in his career year - on the DL.)
8 errors and 9 unearned runs in 7 games. Critical +/- plays that went the wrong way. Horribly uncharacteristic of my teams. Defense shouldn't slump.
A starting pitcher who hadn't committed an error all year boots a ball that led to 6 unearned in a 12-5 loss in game 4.
Ron Keesey, A+ (95 range and career +187) 1B, Pulls a Bill Buckner and lets a double get past him in the ninth inning of game 6. Two runs score in a 6-4 BLT win. That inning could have been the series, particularly if you combine it with the 6th inning OF error that scored a BLT run.
3 errors by a 3B who committed 3 in 400 innings all year.
3 OF errors
An error by a B+/A+ catcher who committed 1 all year.
KC: 8 errors in 7 games.
BLT+SD+ATL: 8 errors in 15 games.
Nothing against BLT, but it's just frustrating to lose one of the few chances I get with a 100+ win team and a rare A+ pitcher.
It's also frustrating to lose in part because of fielding errors. Defense has always been very important to me. I am furious when my defense fails in the playoffs.

Defense is horribly unpredictable. It seems like whenever it collapses it costs key wins. Sorry man!

Congrats, SD!
I thought I might be able to sneak out game 7 with the pitching matchup, but your big bats were too much.
Good luck to all in the OS.
