Detroit struggled to avoid last place most of the 1950 season and like Los Angeles have had an impressive showing thus far in 1952. They have now won four straight and need a win in the finale to sweep the Owls.

Vince Corwin, winless in his first three starts broke into the win column going seven innings allowing five hits and three runs recording seven strikeouts with three walks.

Two relievers handled the late going for Detroit. Frank Capri, coming off a bad outing in the first game of the series in which he did not retire a batter, pitched the eight inning allowing one hit and recording one strikeout.

Nate Beusanski then came on in the ninth to allow one hit and one run recorded one strikeout to garner his seventh save.

Ray Sukeworth heretofore slumping had three hits ion this game and scored three times to jump start his season.

Bill Consuegra starter and loser for Texas gave up two runs on three hits in the first inning. Sukeworth singled. Eddie Thorndyke walked. Roberto Beville single drove in Sukeworth. Clint Murray's bouncer to the third baseman scored Thorndyke. 2-0 Detroit.

Texas made it 2-1 with a run in the second thanks to a RBI single by Dewayne Hartzel.

Sukeworth's day blossomed even more in the Detroit third inning with a lead-off single and his third stolen base this season.

Sukeworth went on to third base on catcher Dewayne Hartzel's throwing error on the play where he scored on a ground out by Thorndyke.

Detroit scored two runs in the f5th inning on a one out single by Sukeworth, a walk to Thorndyle and RBI singles by Clint Murray and Shinya Ohmine.

5-1 Detroit. Three late runs two of them by Texas made the final score 6-4 Detroit.
