Washingon up by three in American League

Seattle outscored New York 9-7 bashing out thirteen hits. Wid Crane hit a solo homer in the eighth and Dutch Strange a three run shot in the ninth to carry the day for Seattle over the Bombers.

Frank Colliflower pitched the eighth inning and got the win (4-1) when Seattle rallied from a 7-5 deficit over the final two innings.

Texas 7 Chicago 4

Adonis Fittery jump started Texas with a two run homerun off LP Will Murdock (1-5) in the first inning.

The Rangers doubled their lead in the second when Ricky Lavender doubled in two runs.

Hank Veltman (3rd) and Rip Machado (2nd) also homered for Texas while Ted Conway hit his 4th for Chicago.

Bill Franks (1-3) got the win.

Kansas City won its second straight taking a 9-6 victory over Los Angeles. Los Angeles in last place has lost five straight.

Washington 6 Toronto 4

Washington took a 6-4 win over Toronto for its third straight victory and now has a three game lead over New York and Texas, deadlocked in second place.

Washington took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Larry Avery and Steve Forrest stroked two straight doubles with Avery scoring on Forrest's gap shot off Ray Hottman.

One inning later Tim Burns laced his first triple of the season to right field and scored with one out on Matt Rojas' single. 2-0 Washington.

Toronto got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning when Wally Glasscock walked Harvey Evans to start the fourth inning. Evans advanced to second when Rojas robbed Craig Pena of possible extra bases with a diving stop of Pena's smash over the first base bag. Bob Yarrison's double scored Evans making the score 2-1.

Toronto center fielder Bob Weatherley dropped a fly ball it by Tom Spilman to start the sixth inning. It was the second error in the game for Toronto. Tim Burns walked and Marty Somerville singled in Spilman. Burns scored on a ground out by Lonnie Kardow to make the score 4-1.

The Senators finished off their scoring in the seventh.

Washington got three singles by Leon Friend, Spilman and Burns and Toronto committed its third error (dropped fly ball by right fielder Ike Tost) allowed two run runs to score putting Washington up 6-1.

Toronto got two late runs to make the final score 6-4. Felipe Perez picked up save number seven and Glasscock improved to 4-1 on the season.
