DOC EDWARDS LEAGUE SCORES

Anaheim lost 3-2 to Boston, in Boston, to lose that series two games to one and drop Anaheim one game behind Seattle.

Clyde Campaneris limited Anaheim to just two runs on three hits. Catcher Curt Pena hit his 4th homerun in the 4th inning for Anaheim and also scored the other run after reaching on an error on a double by Carl Steele.

Seattle 9 Los Angeles 5

Larry Perez surrendered four runs on five hits in the first inning. John Nunez doubled and the second batter Kip Danner singled him in to score.

Perez struck out the next batter Mike Nieves, but Jose Schulte singled to left field putting Danner on third base, where Banks base hit got him home with run number two.

Art Campos' two out double drove in two runs (Schulte and Banks) for a four run lead.

Seattle scored two runs in the 4th inning. Paulette walked the first two batters to start the inning (Wolfe and Martin), then Joe Morton struck out. before pitcher Larry perez delivered a two run single to cut the lead to 4-2.

Los Angeles got one of those runs back in the bottom of the inning on a John Nunez single to back ahead 5-2.

Seattle got two more runs in the bottom of the 6th. Jim Martin had a lead off single and scored on Frank Bolin's triple. Bolin held at third on Martin smash to first but was able to score on pitcher Danny Goodwin's slow roller to second.

Seattle pitchers had three runs batted in in the game closing the score to 5-4 Los Angeles.

Mark Crowell gave Seattle a 6-5 lead with his 5th home run of the season with Reese aboard.

The Mariners took complete control of the game in the 9th scoring three times to take a 9-5 lead. Crowell drove in two more runs with a single and jerry Reese, who reached on an error scored when Jim Wolfe hit into a double play.

Danny Goodwin worked three inning with three strikeouts for the win (2-0) and Gary Allen picked up his second save with two scoreless innings.

Fun to read these every couple of days. Don't be discouraged if no one replies. This league is used for two reasons. One for new folks to try the SIM out and see if they want to spend a couple of bucks on a pay ("keeper/draft") league(s), or to try out new settings and tactics before using them in the aforementioned pay leagues. This is the latter for me as I have been in this SIM with many teams for about ten years. The pay leagues are (for the most part) quite interactive and fun.
