The Boston Beaneaters took the rubber game of their series with Oakland by a final score of 6-2.
Oakland had 2 runs on five hits and made one error.
The home standing Beanies rapped out 9 hits, scored 6 runs and did not commit an error.
Twenty-four year old Dominican born right hander Alberto Ramos improved to 2-1 going 7.1 innings giving up two runs on three hits walking three and striking out nine.
Lead off batter Pat Betzel hit Ramos' first pitch out of the park for a very quick 1-0 lead for Oakland.
Boston thus remained two games off the pace set by New York.
New York defeated Detroit 8-1 at Yankee Stadium.
Carroll Alexander, Oakland's starting pitcher walked Boston's first batter shortstop Tony Richardson. Richardson advanced to second on a ground out and scored on a Rip Matuzak single to tie it 1-1.
Boston lost a potential run in the 4th inning. Matuzak singled but was caught stealing ahead of a double by Bobby Bishop. Bishop scored on a single by Fletcher Browning.
2-1 Boston.
Boston added two runs on Doug Rigney's two run homerun made it 4-1.
Oakland drove Ramos from the game in the eighth scoring its second run on a single off reliever Emil Hughes.
Hughes put out the fire by getting the final two outs of the inning.
An error contributed to Boston adduing on two more runs and Craig Reed struck out the side in the ninth.
