Here is my thought on how we could gracefully end the league:
- For anyone with any paid credit left, that credit plus an extra $15 worth will be transferable to any team you want to select from the Available Teams list.
- We will play 5 more seasons in this league at no cost to all current owners and chaperones.
- After those 5 seasons, this league will shut down.
Again, no one wants to see a league shut down but playing with half a league isn't good for anyone either.
If most remaining owners would prefer to keep going, we can keep it going, but a final 5-season fight would not only spice things up here (before the end) but would also help fill slots in other leagues as your credit is transferred (along with your bonus credit).
Another option might be to merge with the Ivan Rodriguez League, which is also down to half its owners and is also a 15 GPD league. There are a few rules differences (they are a letter grade league, different catcher percentages and different minors system) that would need to be ironed out, and we have one too many owners (although we always lose one or two in a merge), but it is an alternative to ending the league.
Please let me know your thoughts on whether you'd prefer to merge, keep going, or end it with a final fight and some free credit in a different league.

There are currently 12 active teams, not 9. The only inactive teams are the two BOT teams (Hou and Mia) and Cin and Cleve.

I have received some feedback and there is some interest in merging if we can keep the players on our current teams.

It seems like the general answer from everyone is that they would be fine leaving the league the way it is. Everyone likes the owner group and is fine with the teams as they are.

My team has been for sale for several months, and despite having a championship caliber team there was no interest.
I'd prefer to get out of the league somehow, merger or not.

Hujik, you can't count the chaperoned teams as active. They are temporary. While I am chaperoning a team, I am not interested in being a permanent owner. I could stop now and then you would have another team that would be unowned.

I believe there are 8 teams that are owned by paying customers (CHA, DET, SEA, TOR, LA, SD, SF, STL). There are 2 bot owned teams and the other 6 are up for sale so I assumed the owners are chaperones. I took a poll of just the 8 owners and only one liked the idea of disbanding the league after 5 seasons.

Then a merger would be the way to go. 7 unowned teams is way too much for a good league.

Once you hit 7 teams, especially 8 teams, it's time to shut it down. Leagues with expansion drafts are supposed to shut down if more than 6 teams are leaving after a term.

I count 8 owned teams. Other 8 are divided as 5 chaperone, 1 unowned and 2 bots. The 8 owned teams are Chi, Det, Sea, Tor, LA, SF, SD and STL.Pages: 1
