I find I get tripped up whenever runners fail to advance on a base hit, especially if I expect they will. For example, when a guy hits a single with a runner at first I'm left hanging, not knowing if the next line will tell me the runner advanced to third or if it will tell me the result of the next batter. So instead of this:
Joe Smith singles
Bob Thomas singles
Ron Davis hits a home run
Joe Smith scores
Bob Thomas scores
I think it would be nice if it read like this...
Joe Smith singles
Bob Thomas singles
Joe Smith advances to second on the hit
Bob Davis hits a home run
Joe Smith scores
Bob Thomas scores
Such that whenever there is a hit with a runner on base we will always be told where the runners advanced before we find out what the next batter does.

I think the play-by-play should indicate when runners fail to take an extra base, as well as when they do.I find I get tripped up whenever runners fail to advance on a base hit, especially if I expect they will.
