NL analysis for upcoming year

July 28, 2017 at 02:54PM View BBCode

Ok, I have analyzed the startng lineups, bullpen, and starting lineups for every team in the NL. Here are my projections (drum roll please):

Every single team in the NL is "better" than they were last year, in some cases, dramatically better. Since we only play each other, that comes out in the wash. The most improved team is Montreal, followed closely by Chicago. The least improved team is mine (SF) followed by St. Louis. So you know what that means --- the division should be tighter than ever this year.

The teams form two clumps: in the top clump is Pit, SF, and StL. The five other teams are in the second clump. Within both clumps, there is no clear "best" team. So there will be no beating up on anybody this year.

The best hitting lineup: Pit, by a significant margin. StL has the best starting rotation (as they seem to every year that Atl doesn't claim that spot), and SF has the best bullpen (with, surprise!, the Nihilists with the second best).

Thanks for the analysis, good read. I always enjoy a season where the teams are all solid over a season where just one or two teams dominate.

Good luck to you all and enjoy the game.

Good writeup. Easy to get better when taking over an inactive team. Loving the salary format so far
