Local man's consecutive days worked streak to end at 15.

When he stepped into the office more than two weeks ago, he knew he'd be seeing a lot of it through the end of August. Now, sports writer Whisky Bear has announced he's hanging up his pen--at least for 2 days.
"The time is right. It's been a great run, and I'm leaving the office on my own terms," Bear said while at his desk Monday afternoon.
During the improbable run, Bear logged daily hours ranging from 2.5 to 13.5 hours while wading through Babe Ruth World Series and prep football coverage.
He also posted some impressive numbers: 1.8 articles per day with a 19.6-inch story average, combined with Gold Glove defense--he did not commit a spelling error and made just one typo (official scorers later reversed the typo, ruling it a hit).
Bear said he had no specific plans for how he would spend his time off.
"Burn some CDs, I guess. Probably play a little bocce ball, a little NCAA 2005, spend some time with my family, move to a log cabin and start writing the Great American Novel---you know, the usual stuff."
Bear deflected any attempt at comparing his streak favorably to that of baseball great Cal Ripken's run of consecutive games played.
"I wouldn't call myself 'Iron Man' just yet---maybe 'Aluminum Alloy Man.' "

Hobos: nice play-by-play. But I doubt any of Jojo's imaginary friends could catch a screaming line drive off of Aluminum Alloy's bat.
