Senators 4 Boston 3

Not a misprint, Washington and Boston played two consecutive 4-3 games with the Senators extending their winning streak to four games. The first place Senators have now won eight of their last ten.

Washington starting pitchers have 18 complete games this season, but none so far in September. Fortunately for the team their bullpen has stepped into the breech and been outstanding. Chris Brumbley has gone 5-1 with one save and a 1.78 ERA, Joshia White 2-1 1.25, We Conger 1.25 have been formidable.

The Senators scored their first runs of the game in the third inning. The third has been one of their favorites this season with the Senators striking for 40 over the entire season scored two in this inning.

Two walks by Boston starter Ernie Mmahat figured into the scoring. Mmahat walked Larry Belardi who stole second base. Pitcher Bob Jackson singled Belardi stopped after advancing to third base. Mmahat walked Larry Fear to load the bases. Two runs came in on Ron Shaw's single.

Boston has been able to comeback in both games and did so in the 5th inning of this one. Joe Winters singled. Bob Brackenridge putting runners on first and third with no one out.

Washington stiffened. Jackson got Pat Leroy to fly out to short right field..no advance by the runners. Pitcher Ernie Mmahat grounded out pitcher to first. Brackenridge advanced to second with two outs.

Terry Ferrara singled scoring Winters but Brackenridge was thrown out at the plate by Larry Belardi whose throw was there and waiting for Brackenridge.

Washington still had the lead 2-1 as a result.

Boston took care of that in the 6th however when Tom Acosta (6) and Ted Walker (12) went deep on consecutive pitches with two outs.

Washington plays well in the late innings. Thirty three runs in the 8th inning attest to that.

Bobby Moreland led off with a single. Ricky Beck pinch run for him and like a good pinch runner is supposed to do, stole second, went on to third base on catcher Terry Ferrera's high throw. Beck scored on a sacrifice fly by Belardi tied the score 3-3.

The bottom of the ninth (43 runs scored) saw Washington pull out another win. Ron Shaw Mert Copeland singled in the winning run.

New York 7 Anaheim 2

Big series for the Yankees so far. The Bombers have pummeled the Gold in the first two games dropping Anaheim three games behind Washington and pulling themselves within one game of catching Anaheim in second place.
