After two close competitive 4-3 games that went down to the last out Washington blew out Boston in game three of the series 10-0. Washington had ten runs on eleven hits, eight of the hits were singles.
Washington 9-1 over their last ten now have a four game lead over Anaheim and New York after the Yankees swept the Gold to forge a tie for second.
Washington starter Fletcher Meche got the win by pitching 8.1 shutout innings allowed five hits walked three and struck out three to boost his record this season to 7-4. with a 2.34 ERA.
Otis Klobedanz got the final two outs.
Mert Copeland led the way for the Washington hitters with three hits and four RBI.
Copeland had a RBI single in the 5th, a two run double in the 6th and a run scoring triple in the 8th.
Meche, the pitcher had two hits scored two runs had two runs batted in in the game.
