That could be two independent plays. First the guy broke for third on his own and was thrown out. Then, before the batter completed his at-bat, the guy on first took off for second. It's reasonable, certainly.

If you've ever played baseball before then you know its impossible to have a double steal/double play on one play. Obviously you've never played and don't know anything about the game.

Actually, it's not impossible. I've seen a second and home double steal be a double play. I haven't seen the other (3B and 2B) happen before, but it would only take a really stupid guy at first to make that happen... (Jose Canseco anyone?)

Holy cow you are clueless. The second and home steals and NOT at the same time. The runner on first steals second attempting to draw a throw from the catcher. IF the catcher throws the ball to second then the runner at third steals. IT IS NOT CALLED A DOUBLE STEAL IF IT IS SUCCESSFUL. use you head.

you should listen to your own advice about leaving negative comments. I HAVE seen the play happen...a runner tried to steal 3rd, it was a close play and a tangle up at the base, he was out, the runner on 2nd broke thinking that the 3rd baseman wouldn't be able to recover but he did and threw him out. Double play (2 OUTS) on a double steal attempt. Now go back into your little role playing hole and preferably don't come back out until you have some class.

Ok, excuse me, but I meant "unsuccessful double steals". And even if I was clueless (which is not entirely out of the question...lol) I don't claim to know everything about baseball, and in any case, there is no point in name calling or put downs anyway... lol.:D
Also, I don't see how it can be so hard to write something down that is not insulting. :(

Let's please try to keep things pleasant. Disagreements are fine, just take care to express them politely -- personal attacks and name calling are not necessary or appropriate.

If you know ANYTHING about baseball, you would know that if there are TWO runners on base, they both steal AT THE SAME TIME. That is called a double steal. If a runner breaks for third, why would the runner on first stay on first base?? Have you even played or even watched any kind of baseball? Mabye in T-ball the kid wouldn't run to second because hes learning how to play, but in any professional league, its actually a set play. Don't bother arguing becuase obviously don't know what goes on out on the field.

But I think Brad is right, this is probably a case of a guy stealing 3rd on one pitch, then 2nd on a different pitch.

I've seen double plays happen on double steals, especially with all the bad Cleveland teams I watched in the 80s. Basically, the runner on first has to miss the sign. He sees the runner going from 2nd to 3rd and says, ut oh, was I supposed to run? Then he takes off, and gets gunned down at 2nd or caught in a rundown.But I think Brad is right, this is probably a case of a guy stealing 3rd on one pitch, then 2nd on a different pitch.

Ultima007, I know you're new here and we welcome new players to SimDynasty. However, we have some very easy-to-follow, common-sense rules governing this community. One of them is that insulting posts and ad hominum attacks on other members are not acceptable. This is just common courtesy that makes the game more pleasant for everyone. In the future, please keep this in mind before posting.

I have certainly read the other replies, and while some other people did criticize you, they were responding to your initial attack. I quote: "Obviously you've never played and don't know anything about the game." That is certainly a personal attack. Not that others are necessarily right to respond with a similar attack, but you did lob the first insult. I am simply asking everyone here to behave with more courtesy.

if you had paid close attention to my 2nd post on the subject you would have seen that I totally realized that it was most likely on seperate pitches, but for the fun of it I preferred to believe that it wasn't. Maybe you should consider reading further than the 1st post on a subject before going off on someone and insulting them. As for baseball knowledge I'm sure I know at least as much as you do, if not a lot more. So grow up and chill out.Pages: 1 2
