For anyone who missed it, the Chargers were at the 3 yard line, less than a minute left, 4th down, down by 7. Brees found himself in trouble and threw it, and no one caght it. However, a Jets player was called for facemasking, making it first down, 16 seconds left. Brees threw it to Gates for the TD. On to overtime

Actually, Jets linebacker Eric Barton got called for roughing the passer when he inexplicably punched Brees in the head after he chucked the ball up in the air while falling backwards with two guys in his face. The Jets should have won the game in regulation. In OT the Chargers stalled and punted. The Jets first possesion lead to a quick three and out. Then, San Diego drove down into Jets' territory and set up rookie kicker Nate Kaeding with a 39 yard field goal which he pushed wide right. The Jets took the ball down to the San Diego 9 yard line where Doug Brien hit the game winning field goal.

Oh definitely. The Jets just won the right to be slaugthered by either New England or Pittsburgh. But I'll be rooting for them nonetheless.

The Charger players deserve an apology from their coaching staff. Quite possibly the WORST playoff coaching I've ever seen.

15 yard penalty with your team backed up.

3rd and extremely short and you run a shot-gun draw?

3rd and goal from the 1. 2 plays left in the game. You run off tackle?

Field Goal range in overtime. 1st and 2nd down you run it straight up the middle when you could have run anything. Then on 3rd down you run wide right to give your kicker the worst possible angle for the kick.

plus about 10 other questionable moves.

Yes but in the end the Jets prevail on to Pittsburgh or New England....and now we do not have to string up Harris Barton for that totally stupid penalty

That poor rookie kicker has about 7 months to just sit there and think about what he has done.

Also it should be noted that Marty S. has chocked and lost yet another playoff game. He may be the worst postseason coach in history

I ended up watching the last five minutes of regulation and the OT in this game by chance, and I was amazed with how awful the SD play calling was. I was rooting for the Chargers, too, only because the Jets guy was so stupid to drop that left elbow on the QBs head on fourth down. Karma said the Chargers should've won.
