Who are some of the best prospects for the 2005 NFL Draft?

Cedric Benson, Ronnie Brown, Carnell Williams, Mike Williams, Mike Leinart (if he comes out), Derek Johnson, Aaron Rodgers, Ryan Moats, Braylon Edwards.

This year is great for runningbacks, not great for qb's probably. Williams and Edwards may be the only receivers in the first round.

Yea, he could be this year's Roethlisberger, but he'll have to get on a good team, which is possible because he won't be picked that high.

Antrel Rolle is very good but not the best in the draft. Since referees have implemented less contact for conerbacks, shutdown cornerbacks in the draft are valued less.

I would think that that would only increase the value of a quality shut down corner who doesn't need to put his hands on a receiver to shut him down. Before some inferior corners played better because they were allowed to jam the receivers more, now since they can't a great cover corner is even more valuble.

well ya i see your point , but according to mel kiper jr. conerbacks stock are down, he doesn't have him in his top ten.

That is a hard statement to defend because these guys have only had one year to showcase their skills and still have a lot of time to improve. Last year was possibly one of the deepest receiving drafts ever (Larry Fitzgerald, Roy Williams, Lee Evans, Reggie Williams, etc.) but you really need to wait more than a year to claim it was the best ever.

Unless the guy is the Jesus F-ING Christ of the secondary, there's no way a cornerback can really excel. Consider that the receiver has every advantage in every matchup. He knows the play. He knows the route. He knows the timing. The cornerback has to rely on instinct. Now, he can't even rely on a little contact.
It's pathetic how hard the league has come down on DBs.
