Blue Jays paroll is going to go to 210 Million per year over the next three years...February 07, 2005 at 10:53PM View BBCode
Either you read the article wrong or you summarized it wrong. They are going to add a total of $210 million to the payroll (or at least, will allocate that amount and hope someone lets them spend it on them) over the next 3 years. That is total, not per year. The Jays don't plan to spend $210 million on their one year payroll anytime soon, nor could they really do so even if they wanted to (can you imagine finding 21 $10 million players between now and three years from now?)February 07, 2005 at 11:06PM View BBCode
They are going to add 70 million per year probably, they have 210 million extra to add ot payroll, so for one year they could spend 260 and then spend 50 million the other 2 years(there payroll is currently 50 million)February 07, 2005 at 11:16PM View BBCode
Actually, from all the other articles I've read, the $210 million isn't the amount payroll is going to increase either, it's simply the total amount the Jays are prepared to spend on yearly payroll within the next three years. So realistically, what you'll have is a $50-60 million payroll this year, a $70-80 million payroll next year and a $80-90 million payroll the year after. Something like that anyway. What they plan to do after that year is anybody's guess, as is the method in which they plan to improve their place in the standings by simply bumping up their payroll. More money for mediocre veterans! Huzzah!February 07, 2005 at 11:29PM View BBCode
