Well-Balanced Draft?

May 10, 2003 at 02:43PM View BBCode

I'm new here; I played 15 games at the end of the last Single Season & drafted at that time, apparently, a Well-Balanced team. With this new team (and, yes, I know it's early), I have:

Team BA of .145;
Team OBP of .197;
Team OPS of .423;
Team ERA of 7.25:
and have been outscored 32-5.

To anyone who has ANY experience here, please tell me: is this unusual for a 'Well-Balanced' team to start out so miserably? Do teams 'turn it around' and somehow discover both their bats & their arms after a season begins?

I wouldn't worry about it, your pitching look's good - old though. You should of put some points on youth, this being a dynasty league. You need more power, contact is good but power is important. I wouldn't worry about 4 game's. And if u realize after awhile you won't compete this year - you can alway's trade your older guy's to competing team's and get some youth in return. :o

Thx rsheed. I hear you. I rankle at the idea of not competing but am glad to hear that my pitching looks good. Here's to turning looks into results:o

Btw - Bill Sander's is your #1 starter with an F endurance - not good for a starter. He should be a closer - he won't get many inning's as a starter. In my other league I had a C- as a starter and he would only get 3 or 4 inning's a start so an F - who know's. Should try and stick with a B or A endurance for a starter.

You might want to bring up Steve Mill's from your minor's - he'd be a better starter - give you many more inning's.

RSHEED-- Thx for the advice, but there was a method to the seeming madness. I actually have some relievers in my rotation, not to pitch, but to rest. After my 1st game (1.2 IP by Mills), my bullpen was raped, so I have done some juggling to bring up minor leaguers for relief duty. I've already switched Mills back to #1 starter for the next game. So far, I've had all my pitchers start in their original rotation position, it just doesn't look like it. I appreciate your eye & am happy to report I got a W, with an offensive explosion: back-to-back-to-back HRs to lead off the game. My fans didn't know how to respond:o. Many left their seats & wandered from the stadium in their confusion.

Ah - got it. You might or might not be aware but a pitcher cannot pitch more than 2 game's in a row. Once they do - they won't be allowed to pitch the next game and then they will be fully rested. And from what I heard - if a RP is all green or down to 3 yellow - it doesn't affect his pitching - but I'm not positive. Btw - I'm 1-4 so I'm not any better so far ;) Good luck the rest of the season

thx. I appreciate the RP pitcher info & hope it's true. Perhaps I'll investigate that the hard way.
