I'am originally from NY and a Met fan but you have to admit they are good. Doing all this w/out their best player in Jeter as well.

I can't stand watching the yankees make it to the playoffs every year, they are such a high paying team with too much talent,I wish there was a reasonable salary cap or something...

what do they have, like a $160M payroll or something like that? thats like 3 teams payrolls. williams, jeter, matui, posada, soriano, ventura, modesi, etc.etc. wells, clemens, mussina, pettite, rivera, etc.etc.etc. like i said, trump tight. its not MLB anymore, its yankees league baseball. somebody shoot that owner before its too late!

While the whole situation is totally ridiculous, I don't think it's fair to blame Steinbrenner -- he's playing by the rules. He makes a ton of money and at least he's willing to put it back into his team. If anything, I blame the Player's Association. There definitely needs to be some sort of salary cap and they just won't allow it.

the player's assoc. speaks for the players, who want to make $$$, eliminating the salary cap

Jeter is the best Yankee hands down. He does it all. Bat ,Glove, basepaths and he's a leader in and out of the dugout.

George is a very smart man. The rest of the league needs to learn how to spend some cash instead of pocketing the proceeds.

Face it. No matter the economic system, you can count on certain things. The Yankees are going to win, the Cubs are going to lose and everyone else will have their periodic seasons in the sun and their years in the cellar. That's just the way baseball is.

and that is what is bad about the sport. dont you think it would be more exciting if the yankees were actually bad one year? ya know, watch somebody other than roger clemens pitch on TV....BTW, the cubbies look pretty good this year.

Yes I totally agree. But the Yankees have been winning like this since the 1920's and the Cubs have had a few good seasons in the past including this one so far. I don't know how to fix it but thats how I see it. The Yankees are beatable but they sure make it tough every single year don't they?

in 1990 the yankees were last in their division: 67-95, and worse in the AL, 2nd worst in the majors
4 consecutive losing seasons: 1989-1992

I like the Yanks. George Stienbrenner makes a lot of money so I don't see why he can't pay his players more. The yanks don't rebuild, they reload.

Fact: If you work it out, $5 of every ticket purchased at the Rangers ballpark last year went directly into Alex Rodriguez's pocket. When you take what he earns per year across number of games played and number of tickets sold - $5 of every ticket purchased went into his bank account.

Fact #2: After they signed A-Rod, Rangers tickets went up $5 each in price. So it ain't some rich owner or a good TV deal who's paying for these contracts, it's the schlub who buys a ticket.

And that's why there needs to be a salary cap.

And that's why

Am i alone here in thinking that the cardinals rock?? not as good as they were a while back, but definitly oneof the funnest mlb teams to watch.this team isnt horrible, making you groan, but they dont win every game either.I also like watching them because younever know what will happen ith them.
