Damnit. Even I might have to start respecting the guy again.

He grabbed a kid by the shoulder, more a natural reaction than an act of heroism. I also think that story exaggerates the story. I could easily do this, and not even make the local paper...

Can't we all band together in mutual hatred for A-Rod?

I remember when everyone around here sang the praises of A-rod constantly... Does the Yankee uniform really change all that?

Oh no, someone is questioning a Yankee! To the Batmobile!

Hating A-Rod just makes me feel whole, I don't question it...

Rodriguez is a guy who, like Barry Bonds, is so good on a statistical basis that it is hard to say anything nice about him. Unlike Bonds, it is hard to see his greatness by watching one or two of his games. He squints at the plate, he strikes out too much and usually badly, flailing over the plate at outside pitches. He makes errors at critical points, and hits weak grounders with runners at third. He's also going to have 400 career home runs before the age of 30.

I remember the last time I was taken by my shoulder. I was 16 and he--well, he was 19. The sun set before we realized the afternoon had come and gone, and our hair smelled like fresh meadow grass. His father was transferred to Lincoln at the end of the summer, and I never saw Jim again. But I know we shared something magical. Something true.

Wow!
There are YANKEES who actually do GOOD THINGS!

Although it doesn't change that "ARod" is an incredibly stupid nickname and he should be playing shortstop.

Do Yankee fans even like A-Rod? I get the feeling that they don't fully accept him and his purple lips.

A-rod was a great community contributor here in Seattle when he was here, and unlike bonds he doesn't seem to be a complete jerk, he seems human, i will permanently have that image engrained in my head of him crying after the 95' alcs when he was crying on the bench and Cora was comforting him, he has come a long way from his role player status of those days. I don't see why people dislike him, people said he took money over everything but that isn;t completly true...i remember when he was talking about seattle's offer, it wasn't even close, not in year length(stupid stupid stupid, does 2 more years make that much of a difference) or in money value, seattle expected to get extreme home town discount, they handed him a bunch of loose papers regarding their top prospects and their future, but Texas had a powerpoint that showed all these things with video clips showing him with his future double play partners that had been digitally altered to show what it woudl look like, Texas was just far more prepared than anyone else and offered him everything he wnated including no-trade clause(sry. atlanta)...he also i a great community contributor, he paid a ton of money to the univeristy of miami and helps with a lot of community service, one of the best players in the game, and a great person overall, yeah he has his faults as does everyone else, but he has to be one of the best rounded players in terms of overall skill, sociability, and community service..........and ME, you are right, he should be playing SS, but he still was a great 3b last year, but yeah gold glove SS shouldn't be moved for Jeter, i don't care what jeter has done, A-rod is a better player all around, better power hitter, can be better average hitter, can steal more bases, and just more complete of a player

Hey, it's a very kind act, but not in anyway super-human. It's no different than anything any of us would do. I mean unless you're just the biggest evil jerk in human history, if you see a kid about to get nailed by a truck, you grab him.

And like it or not, most of us don't make headlines for it.
