He could work out for them and take a physical today and the signing may be announced as early as tomorrow. He would be a huge addition for that defense. They went from one of the worst defensive units in the league in 2003 to one of the best last year but they lost nose tackle Jason Ferguson to free agency and starting cornerback Donnie Abraham to retirement. Abraham's retirement left the secondary very weak (Mickens, Barrett, Coleman, and McGraw were the starters) and the secondary was the weakest unit on the defense last season. Anyway, he'll be a huge upgrade to what was already a pretty good defense.

He could be a nice signing. But given the fact that every other team that has looked at him so far hasn't signed him makes me wonedr if his foot still isn't right. If he comes back as the Ty Law we all know its a great move for any team.

Any wod about the value of the contract?

I heard that he did well in his workouts for the Jags and Lions (very well for the Lions, in fact one report I read said that he greatly exceeded expectations). I know that his initial demands were for $6 million a year and no team was willing to match that. I don't know what the Jets have agreed on though. One of the reports I read (it may have been the one I posted) said that they have agreed on the parameters for a multi year deal but it didn't say what those were.

I read another article that said it's probably going to be a three year deal worth around 6 million a year with a 5 million dollar signing bonus. This is assuming he passes a physical and the Jets are satisfied that he will be able to perform at a high level.

I heard yesterday it was four years, but if you read that today its probably right.

This is a done deal now. Three years at six million per year with a 5 million dollar signing bonus. I believe the Jets were also able to work in some sort of clause to protect them if he re-injures his foot.

I never thought I'd say this, but I'd rather see Tupac than MR T!

Could be worth $28M over 3 years with incentives.

Here's to it being worth the bare minimum!

It will kill me to watch Law play for the Jets. I am a big fan of his and am disappointed that he didn't end his career as the Patriots lone all time interceptions leader (he is tied for first). It's time to bury my Ty Law jersey and buy a David Givens jersey ...... until he asks for way too much money after the season and goes to play for the Redskins or some other terrible team.
