Who will win the NL Central

im goin wit the cubbys. they prolly have the best rotation out of all of these teams (closely followed by houston). i really like wood and prior. i think that they should have kept that willis kid instead of trading him to florida for clement. they have a pretty good lineup with sosa (if he ever gets out of his slump WITH OUT USING A CORKED BAT) and patterson. one thing is fo sho pitt and milwaukee r OUT.

they have the same players as last year.

they won the division then.

in fact, i think they've won the division for the past three years, someone correct me if i'm wrong, though.

don't have the players?

keep in mind, the cardinals have just now gotten isringhausen back...

the bullpen will come together now...

if you take away half of the blown saves when the cards had NO closer, they have a 3 or 4 game lead in the division.

cubs and astros are on a roll, but the cardinals are the real deal...

see how it looks in september, for all you nonbelievers.

yanks had their closer out too and started 18-3. plus mariano is sooo much bettr than isrinhausen. plus i dont think that u got my point about the cardinals not bringing in ne new players. astros brought in kent and the cubs brought in clement. uhh who did the cardinals bring in??

skierdude44

June 15, 2003 at 08:51PM View BBCode

it is a comparison. did u read the 2nd part of my post?? btw yanks are the best!
TheSkipper

the cardinals just kept what they had, why mess with success?

btw, they spent alot keeping those players.

there's not much more to go around.

(they're not as rich as the yankees)

The Way I See It:

Cards:
Strengths: clubhouse, managing, chemistry, situational greatness (runners in scoring position)
Weaknesses: not as many stars as other teams
Cubs:
Strengths: starting pitching, managing, hot right now
Weaknesses: hitting (who do they have other than sosa & patterson?)
Astros:
Strengths: good starting rotation, underachieving players who might start getting better (wade miller, oswalt w/ his injuries)
Weaknesses: hitter's park doesnt fit rotation, overachieving players who might tail off (brad lidge, morgan ensberg)

My pick: CUBS
Cubs will win for the years to come as well, w/ all that young pitching

yea but skip it isnt sucess unless u win the world series and even then u have to make ur team bettr bcuz every1 else in the league is gettin bettr trying to catch u and eventually they will. even the yankee teams in their last run made changes, both in the offseason and around the trading deadline (David Justice for example) all the rest of the teams that can compete wit the cards have made changes to get bettr. even the giants who made it to the world series last year made changes. Anaheim didnt though and thats y they prolly wont repeat as champs (and they got lucky against the yanks) GO YANKS!!!!:P

it's not too late to make the changes.

i have faith in management and the cards will win the division for the fourth(?) year in a row
skierdude44

June 18, 2003 at 05:12PM View BBCode

skip ur rite but it is also not to late for other teams such as the cubs to make changes and that would put them ahead bcuz of the offseason aquisitions along wit the trade deadline.

ok, you twelve chumps who are jumping on the cubs' bandwagon will now see them fade away. it will be houston and st. louis battling for the division, as usual, and , as usual, the cards will win.

cards tear into kerry woods today, and have the their two aces up for the rest of the series, i predict a sweep.

happy fourth of july

not as many stars?

looks like five to me.

how many for houston?

how many for the cubs?

TheSkipper

Cards:
Strengths: clubhouse, managing, chemistry, situational greatness (runners in scoring position)
Weaknesses: not as many stars as other teams

meant to quote that earlier,
but anyways, that eliminates their weakness (in your opinion)

other weaknesses:
bad luck (injuries)
weak bullpen (eldred saved 'em, izzy is back, it will fall into place)
only two aces (morris struggling right now, woody got 11th win today(all-star pitcher)
:D
need another ace

strengths: a seemingly amazing farm system (or good luck)-- see bo hart and keep an eye on danny herran(ithink that's his name); he could be that third ace(cross fingers)

good utility players/bench hitting

management WILL make any adjustments necessary before the deadline.

if the cardinals are healthy; no one beats them, with any pitcher.

the division belongs to them, as you will all see in the second half (another strength)
