Deveau, Patroits get No Respect.

January 08, 2006 at 06:35AM View BBCode

Despite over 95% of fans picking Jacksonville to win in a nationwide poll, the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS overcame the odds and the DISRESPECT of the sports world to beat the Jaguars, showing the GRACE and FORTITUDE of a TRUE CHAMPION. It seems that the rest of the country has forgotten that the PATROITS are the DEFENDING WORLD CHAMPIONS. Perhaps one day America will embrace the EXCELLENCE of the Patriots, or their sister team the BOSTON RED SOX, but until that day the teams are content to TOIL in UNDERAPPRIECATED OBSCURITY.

blah blah blah blah
blah blah blah

how anyone, including Tom Brady, can whine about the Patriots getting no respect, is beyond me.

The Pats were 8 point favorites in their first-round game. It was the largest point-spread the entire weekend. Don't give me any silly talk about no respect.

To me, hearing that coming from Brady, sounds like someone's a little bit insecure. Which in and of itself is ridiculous, since if he never plays another down, Brady will be in the Hall of Fame

he didn't say now, he said in the beginning of the year.

and he's absolutely right. When they were 4-4, who, besides Patriots faithful, said they were going anywhere?

Not the press, not Vegas, not you, not the fans, only people in New England, and even between us it was only 50/50.

Patriots could win 10 superbowls, and barely seem happy. It's one of their coaches keys to success: Keep them hungry. Part of their hunger has always been to feed off the 'no respect'/ 'underdog' mentality. They like the us against them.

Can't argue with the results though. So, while some got upset about Tom's statement, to me, it sounded like he was talking to himself & to his team, more than us or the media. They really don't care if we like them or not, just listen to half of the coach's interviews.

Well, anyway, the question was asked if he feels the Jaguars are disrespected, and he answered No, if anything we are disrespected. Kind of like, hey, that's are angle of motivation. Tell Jax to get there own.

I think it's time to start talking about IF the Patriots win the Superbowl, is he the greatest coach to ever walk the sidelines??

I think most of the press live by the "until they are eliminated, the Pats are still defending champs" motto.

People were forgetting the Pats? I'll buy that. Calling the end of the reign, not so fast my friend.

I know I still think they are the team to beat in the AFC. . yes even after their 4-4 start. .

sure, now you do. But when they were 4-4 you weren't saying that, nobody was. THAT'S what Brady was saying.

I don't know, I guess most maybe. But I don't see how anybody could count out the Pats back then. You knew they would win the division, and thus have to be dealt with in the playoffs. I really can't believe them winning the division and beating Jacksonville is a surprise, but I suppose to some it was. Not me.
