i need a defintion on "cheap shot" really. because, i just always thought, in football, especially pro football, you just did anything and everything you could get away with. is holding in a masterful fashion less cheap than delivering awesome hard blows on defense, during which some individual might happen to get injured? because football players hit each other. the entire game is built around that.[Edited on 5-7-2009 by tm4559]

cheap shot (n): any physical contact made either (a) with a player that shep likes; or (b) by a player that shep does not like.

in basketball, it's when you launch yourself at another player who is doing nothing more than setting a screen.
in football, it's called unnecessary roughness, tim.
in basketball, it's called a flagrant one or a flagrant two.
both forms of unsportsmanlike conduct were developed and honed to an art form in Filadelfia. Or is it Infidelphia?

definition of a cheap shot is when you hit a player when he is down (like dawkins did on every play) or after the play was over (like dawkins did AFTER every play) or by spearing them with your helmet (usually in the groin as dawkins did)in basketball, it's when you launch yourself at another player who is doing nothing more than setting a screen.
