it is a real innovation. teach them how to shave points while they're still young, and they won't have any trouble doing it later and making it look good.

I can't wait for the first team to get beat after taking their foot off the accelerator.

Can't they change a rule that needs changing? Like, if you stub your toe, then fall on the ground acting as if your foot has been severed, you can't play for the rest of the game?

How bout just outlaw futbol? Then no child will ever suffer self esteem problems...

To be fair, this is Soccer in North America we're talking about. If it were baseball, basketball, football or hockey, there'd be a bigger deal made. But, it's soccer.

Seriously, if they tried that with hockey, there would be an overthrowing of the Canadian Government.

Embarrassing!

I'd pull my children from that league, immediately.

oh my god.

You score on your own goal 5 times? You win.

I would kill this rule so fast.

i thought about the own goals, it is really novel. but i am assuming they would disallow that awesome victory.

(or if it not, it could be a speed round war to five own goals, it would be action packed. seriously, i used to think simdynasty was the perfect complement to that Southpark episode about the Little League tanking. but this takes the cake.)

The key is near the end of the article where it states that "The new rule, suggested by ?involved parents,?.

I've coached kids' soccer for 8 years, trust me "involved parents" are the source of most of the problems .

wait, you played sports? outdoors?

(this is possibly the dumbest rule ever. but i'd love to be there when the own goals start.)
