Region Specific Message Boards

June 14, 2010 at 04:10PM View BBCode

Jet and I were discussing this idea the other day, what do you guys think about creating region specific message boards under Sports Talk? I was thinking about starting with the major league cities, like Cleveland Sports Talk, Boston Sports Talk, etc. The primary goal would be for people to connect with other people from their same area. But it is also hoped that if we can build a good group in some locations, then we could host some Sim Dynasty events in these locations.

I suspect that these would be much more conducive to a kinder sports talk environment.

I like it. Also Sim Events would be cool.

I'm not sure that this will accomplish the intended purpose. It seems that the "regulars" will go right on posting anywhere they want to (unless you can set it up to limit who can see which boards based on the IP address location ...). In other words, you will still have NY fans posting in the BOS forums and vice versa, which may not bring about happier sim communication.

On the other hand, having region-specific boards might entice some people who are otherwise NOT posting to go ahead and get involved.

I also very much like the idea of Sim Events.

It is worth a shot probably.

I'm from Vancouver, just like it says under the avatar which is not at all about the uniform but rather the way the uniform is worn .

Oh and it's their, not there, no matter where (not wear) you are from.

Roosters, do you really think that anyone takes the time to read your location when you have that particular avatar in place?

The events would likely be centered around going to a baseball game, so it would be good to organize by team regardless of physical location.

We'll have to do a good job of moderating.

I agree with Ham... people may be inclined to jump in about the Sox if they are from Boston, but have no interest in jumping in for any other board chatter.

Also, I don't care who wears what uniform, if its a Yankees uni, its stupid. Also not being from NY is even worse. At least NY, CT, and other surrounding areas have a reason to root for the god forsaken team. People from outside the area are just bandwagon (this could be argued but I'm never going to believe it). But, this is no discussion for this thread, so lets just leave it alone :-).

Also I'm sorry for the typo, frankly I don't spell check my posts before I press reply.. simply because I don't care enough. Maybe I should?

Maybe there should be "Age specific" threads, so that corey and happy can play their bakugon or whatever. :spin:

(I don't care how old you are, I was messing with you.)

I have no idea what that is that I made up. I heard some elementary kids talking about it a few months ago. I don't know what it means.

There's probably not enough posters here for a Seattle-themed board, but a general West Coast one would be nice to have.
