As some of you probably know, or if you don't, I happen to be a diehard Mariners fan. As they are 7-13, anyone is welcome to poke fun at them on this thread. You can also talk about any other teams or players that are underachieving so far. (Under one condition: don't talk about the Yankees. We have enough threads dedicated to Yankee-bashing)April 28, 2004 at 05:46PM View BBCode

The Mariners should be above .500, but half of their losses have come from bullpen meltdowns. They also have hardly any hitting:April 28, 2004 at 09:29PM View BBCode
Its April everyone. This wont last. Detroit will come back down and the Yankees and Seattle will gravitate back to the top.April 28, 2004 at 09:47PM View BBCode
It's doubtful, given every Mariners starter is 30 or older. The past two years, they had one of the best records April-August and wore down in September. Maybe skierdude's Yankees will be back on top and A-Rod will probably win MVP.April 28, 2004 at 10:58PM View BBCode
joel pineiro? he might be talking about hitters though.... also at the rate the mariners are going, Mike Hampton will hit more Homeruns than the entire mariners teamApril 28, 2004 at 11:02PM View BBCode
Barry Bonds has as many home runs as the entire Expos team.April 29, 2004 at 12:24AM View BBCode
The Yanks will be there at the end, maybe the Mariners will as well but they can't afford to stay at this pace for long...I think they really miss Lou Piniella more than anyone would admit.April 29, 2004 at 06:00AM View BBCode
I think that it's finally the age getting to them. Their 4 and 6 hitters are over 35 and their ace is over 40...guess the old whirlpool spa just isn't working like it used to.April 29, 2004 at 02:45PM View BBCode
Once again, the bullpen melted down last night (Baltimore 3, Seattle 1). Yes, I was was talking about the starting lineup. The rotation is young but they are getting thrashed. And when they do good, there is no hitting to back them up.April 29, 2004 at 03:39PM View BBCode
Orioles RP yesterday: 4IP, 0 hits. orioles relievers just may keep them in the race.April 30, 2004 at 05:30PM View BBCode
You won again, happy. Baltimore 9, Seattle 5. This is getting ridiculous.May 01, 2004 at 05:42PM View formatted

Poor Mariners...Bob Melvin is a lousy manager, and they are the second-oldest team in baseball at about 30.5 years per player (Yanks are tops at around 31.5, or so ESPN tells me). From a dyed-in-the-wool M's fan, I hate to say the best baseball product coming out of the Pac NW is right here in Tacoma. The Rainiers have some pretty decent players, and a former World Series MVP for a bullpen catcher! We're talking Pat Borders, people! I'm going to games just for the joy of shouting "Remember 1992!" from behind the home bullpen. It's just a shame that Wiki Gonzalez is starting over him....sheesh.May 03, 2004 at 02:54PM View BBCode
The Mariners offense finally woke up yesterday.May 05, 2004 at 03:27PM View BBCode
yeah, we had a 13 inning game a couple days ago. we lost...May 05, 2004 at 05:51PM View BBCode
It went only 16 innings, because the home plate umpire blew a pair of calls on plays at the plate--Dan Wilson missed the tag on Koskie in the 9th, but got the call, and then called Winn safe in the bottom of the 16th, when he was clearly nailed. The dude wanted to go home, I guarantee it. After the game, Melvin looked like he'd just walked in on Lucy Liu and Britney Spears engaged in a jello wrestling fight--and got asked by the ladies to officiate. Lucky, lucky guy. Same night the bum got a contract extension. Don't get me wrong, I loved getting the W, but Melvin is a schmuck.May 05, 2004 at 11:27PM View BBCode
That must be sarcasm...they just extended his contract through 2005. If his head is going to roll, that's not soon enough! :mad:May 06, 2004 at 02:47PM View BBCode
The Mariners got shut down by good pitching.Pages: 1
