Currently it's easy for a young starting pitcher who is out of options and has great endurance to reach 200 IP, or a comparable reliever to hit 100 IP before September. So what to do when he's getting close to his limit? If you option him to the minors you risk losing him. If you leave him in, he tops his limit and loses 5 points off health. You can't rest him until September.September 23, 2010 at 12:07AM View BBCode
Or better, just get rid of the rule since it is super annoying and doesn't do anything for balance of the game (now that the soft cap for pitcher IC is in place).September 25, 2010 at 12:54AM View BBCode
yeah, i dont like that setting either, especially if you hold a guy to 199 innings at 23 so he doesn't get the penalty, then he still has to stay at 199 for the next 4 years? Incremental increases shouldn't be penalized, (199-220-240-unlimited). This is on ideascale, I believe. But what you can do is send him to the bullpen when he gets to 140-150 innings or so, he'll still rack up ICs and should end up avoiding the health and the endurance penalties. It'll hinder his chances of accomplishing career milestones though, but it's about the only thing you can do to save his health.September 25, 2010 at 10:03PM View formatted
