The Colts earlier in the season added some gritty veterans for much needed depth in; Bill Clary 37, a 2 time former MVP, career batter .287 (hit .296 in the series vs Baltimore), Dean Buchanan 38, career batter .271 (also chipped in against Baltimore), Chad Carlson 33, career hitter .269.
However seemingly stuck in neutral and going no where 4 or 5 games back of the Spiders we picked up some gritty veterans to add even more depth for the playoff push ; Alex Presko 37, a career .283 batter from Brooklyn and RP Alex McGraw 31, who would take over closer duties. Seemed to be the final pieces needed to make the playoffs for only the 2nd time under this ownership (made playoffs in 1971 also).
We had great optimism going into this series with Baltimore as the Colts close to dominated the Orioles in the regular season going 14 - 7 against them. After being trounced in the first two games and out scored 22 to 2 we turned it around and won 4 out of the next 5 saving the best for last with our 2 time defending Cy Young winner A. Thomas for game 7 and it paid off big time.
Now heading to this ownerships first World Series we see some familiar faces on the other side who used to be Colts not so long ago in ; Blix Cochrane, Jeff Ostendorf, Kent Simons, Ribs Hartman. We wish them well as we do the Reds however The Colts feel a real need to take vengeance out on the Reds for denying the League an all Chicago Final Series and of course seeking our first Championship.
Folks better not let the younsters watch this one as it ain't going to be pretty.

Good luck to you against the Reds. I find it a welcome change that the Reds can go from last place a year ago to leading the league in wins and a possible WS title. He made some moves and they paid off. Just goes to show how much parity we have in the DPL.
That being said, I still wish it was me in the series. :D
