Small Bugs Thread

Maybe you should sticky this thread Chris.

In here post little things that you notice that are messed up that don't really deserve to have their own thread.

I'll start...

When you click on the draft year on a player's card you get a Apache/Tomcat error.

Example: [url=http://footballbeta.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=131974]Brian McKeever[/url] was drafted in the first round with the second pick in 1961. When you click on the "1961" on the card a new tab opens up that reveals the error. [url=http://footballbeta.simdynasty.com/draftpref.jsp?year=1961]Here's the actual url of the draft year for your perusal.[/url]

Good idea, Matt.

Here is one that has been bugging me, but not enough to do anything about it.

On the depth chart, if you drag-n-drop to sort your list, a random (?) player inexplicably drops to the bottom of the available player list.

The rounding on yardage is a bug as well.

In the NFL the yardage gained by a player is always rounded up, so a 1.5 yard gain becomes 2 yards and 2*1.5 yard gains are 4 yards not 3 but in the SIM it doesn't work that way, either all the partial yards are being added up or things are rounding down .

Are you sure about that?

I always thought that every yard had to be accounted for, so if a guy runs for 9.9 yards on 1st down but it's inches short, you have to call it 9 yards to make sure the yards add up.

I'm not 100% positive but my understanding is that's the way it works .

I am basing this on my experience covering college and high school games as a reporter for many years, but the principle should apply.

You have to account for each yard of the field, because otherwise you could have individuals adding up to 85 yards gained on an 80-yard drive.

So if it's 2nd-and-inches and only takes a tiny gain for the 1st down, it's still 1 yard in the book. That way the two plays add up to the 10 yards. And if a guy gained something to make a 1st down, you can't very well credit the 1st guy with 10 yards (and no 1st down) and the 2nd guy with 0 yards (and a 1st down). It has to be 9 and 1.

But I think that's really what happens, although it's more likely 81 or 82 not 85.

I think that Chris has explained this before (and I may not relay the info right). The guy who crosses the yard-line gets credit for that yard; whether he is the one who gains 1 inch or the guy who gains 9.9 yards. When the line is crossed, a yard is counted.

This is a leftover from the baseball card, from which the football card is adapted. I'll take care of it. Thanks!

When you do the drop, if you drop on an unnumbered player, that person is bumped to the bottom. Otherwise it should be the top non-numbered player. It was easier to move him to the bottom than move everyone down one. The baseball side does the same.

Not really, when I click on the draft year, be it 1961, 1962 or 1963 it takes me to the 1963 draft pool.

Will we at some point get a popup view of player cards when we mouse over their names?

This can still be very annoying...when setting the depth chart for the first time, if I put someone at the top (not by selecting a number but by simply moving him to the top), then the #2 guy would be moved to the bottom of the list. I then have to scroll down to the bottom of the entire list and find him again.

When I put my cursor on the show pat/fg icon [on the box score page],
the page jumps and I have to re-point.

Not a huge deal, but in the BSFL on the coaching strategy page the sliders aren't labeled with "run more" "pass more" etc.

A minor glitch I noticed today. I went to the schedules page and clicked the 4th quarter of the Carolina/Winnipeg game. When the DynaVis window opened it said "Advancing to the 4th quarter" across the top. When it was finished loading, the play-by-play display was at the end of the 1st quarter and the slide bar whatchamacallit along the bottom was pointed at the half. All of the game info on the scoreboard was correct. When I started it (I have it set to pause when I open DynaVis) everything went to the correct point in the game. and DynaVis ran normally.

I tried clicking on the 3rd quarter and it did the same thing accept the play-by-play was at the beginning of the game and the slider was pointed to the end of the 1st. Clicking on the 2nd had trouble loading (paused a bit) then displayed everything at the beginning of the game. In each case, when taking it off pause, the sim ran smoothly.

I clicked on my previous game against Washington and it did the same thing.

I'll check it out. Probably something specific to starting paused.

Thanks!

When a game goes to overtime, "ot" shows up on the "Sched/Res" page, but not on the "Schedule" page, i.e. can't watch the end of the game w/o knowing the result when it goes to overtime.
Admin

That's because putting "OT" there would hint at the result. But you can open the 4th quarter and then click on the OT header in DynastyVision or on the timeline to jump to OT, so it's just one extra click.

The career stats for some players are not calculating averages correctly. I noticed it on TE Bill Blackwood's card last night, but I was trying to get my infant to go back to sleep and didn't take the time to post the link to the thread. Thanks!

What's the rate that screen passes are getting intercepted at? Seems rather high..

You are viewing the raw post code; this allows you to copy a message with BBCode formatting intact.
I need to check the code, but I think screens have half the int rate of other passes.
