He's outstanding...but not the sickest prospect ever.

I still remember Chris Espino, matty. How did his career turn out? Can you post his card?

Here you go. His run of sub-2.00 seasons from 2008-2013 was remarkable. I used him entirely as a relief ace, hence the 100+ wins to go along with 563 career saves.

(Gregory, as reference, Espino was A+/A+ in velocity and control straight out of the draft).

Weird that there were four players picked in that draft ahead of him...

That's outstanding. I had wondered if his endurance ever increased enough to put him in the rotation. He probably served a better purpose out of the bullpen though. He's definitely the best I've seen. Thanks for posting his card.

Wow, Espino was good, and yet he got traded at the end of his career, despite a lot of saves the year before, for a future waiver wire 2nd--it is a cold cruel sim world. By the way, Happy New Year Tfarr--and Lefty sends his curses down upon Colorado!:D

The best I ever had for my team out of the draft was Archie Tatum who was A/A but a little older. The best I've seen was in the same league a few seasons earlier dirtdevil got Jorge Alvarez who was A overall at OS18

This was the best player I ever saw in the amateur draft.

Russ LaGrow

88/97 when he was drafted. A shame he was already OS 25.

Wow, LaGrow is quite something. That 0.81 WHIP in 1999 really stands out for me (not that his 31 win campaign the following year is anything to sneeze at, but WHIP is the true measure of how good a pitcher is). That Dude's entire career is a long, stretched-out Pedro Martinez in his prime type of thing. Total awesomeness.

Happy New Year to you, Larry. Yes, I don't think we're going to zap the Lefty Curse until we take down the Robber Barons in the Series and get our revenge. That, or the old bugger dies.

Oh yeah, even though he never made A+/A+, I think that is the new best player that I've seen, in terms of his rate stats. I think Espino may have pitched in system 3, which makes his numbers even more impressive, but to do what LaGrow did over that many innings, wow. I haven't seen anything that good. Bart's Tatum and Alvarez there had some pretty impressive seasons, as well. Thanks for sharing these, guys.

All this talk about pitchers is great, but let's not forget about the immortal Chuck Cox. Ah, Chuck...what a hitter you were. You make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Chuck Cox had an insane career!
