Longest drought not winning a WS?

December 29, 2011 at 04:00PM View BBCode

There are two owners in one of my leagues, original owners, who has gone 81 seasons without a title (not likely to win this year either).

Has anyone ever reached 100?

If anyone has gone that long in a league without winning, they should be booted from the league, maybe even the site!

If they've just had bad luck in the world series or something we'll let them stay. But it has to be at least a half-dozen appearances. ;)

We had an owner in the BHL who played 40 seasons without making the playoffs .

The Philadelphia franchise in that league has never won the World Series in the 90 years of the league's existence, through three different owners, and have only made it to the World Series once.

It's 83 seasons now.

Chicago's only made the playoffs twice - at least New York has done that seven times and made the Division championships once, something Chicago has yet to celebrate. Both are still waiting to see what the World Series looks like from a non-paying ticket position.

So New York can stay, but Chicago has to go! :saint:

I have a team that I bought about six season ago that in 45 seasons has never made the playoffs and has only had even one winning season (when it went an amazing 83-79).

You would think that in all that time, an owner, by sheer piling up of good draft picks, would have a few consecutive winning seasons and at least make the playoffs but, no.
That will hopefully change in the next 3-4 seasons when all the young guys I've stockpiled begin to make their mark...

with the stockpiling picks, that same owner probably consistently got ripped off in trades, just not sure why an owner would stick around that long

Some people just love the game regardless of how they do :spin:

Am I reading this wrong, or do you have a league with more than 2 rounds of playoffs?

Nope just two rounds -

15 more seasons and it's time for someone else to give it a try!

It took me 37 seasons- 16 playoff appearances, and 4 trips to the world series, before I won my first one. I made the playoffs 7 consecutive years before winning it in the 8th.

Chicago 85 seasons, 2 playoff appearances, 0 trips to the World Series

New York: 85 seasons, seven playoff appearances, one trip to the world series, no World Series titles.

New York wins! New York wins!

Just leaves Chicago without a title now.

And that doesn't seem likely, they haven't had a winning season in about 50 years.

After 87 seasons, why would things change now?

If i'm not mistaken, he carries 20 minor leaguers at a time, which would contribute to things.
