If my catchers are injured, why doesn't it play the next best catcher?

Given a scenario where you have two 100% catchers on your team and one 30% catcher 100% OF, if your two 100% catchers get hurt, why does it randomly pick some censored who has 0 catching experience on your bench over the 30% guy?
Since the catcher is 30%, you can't insert him into the lineup. And in leagues like GPL, it might be 36 games before you even notice that a career SS has now taken over for you at catcher.

because ABE is not capable of making distinctions between levels of unqualified at catcher. if there are no qualified catchers left then he just picks the first guy on the roster who isn't in the lineup. usually, that's a 1B.

But he does pick the most qualified at other positions, so there must be a way for ABE to determine partial skills.
I've never understood why ABE has such a hard time dealing with the catcher issue, also why he has to take away an injured SP pitcher's role rather than leave him in his slot and skip him.

yeah, the pitcher thing is a mystery to me as well, especially since it doesn't do that with the batting order.
