This game is a revelation. Home field advantage? Please buy it immediately.

I'll have to buy a game system first, but sure, why not? :P

Is it really that good? I was thinking of getting NFL2K5.

Well, I prefer NCAA over Madden, so part of it might be my own bias--but they have a home field advantage system so that players can get rattled by excess crowd noise, which might get them to drop a pass or miss a blocking assignment. And this is all in addition to great game play. The college game is more fun to me because of trick plays and bootlegs and the ability to run the option.

I played as Central Michigan and visited Michigan State--my guys were wetting their pants as the stadium tremored.

Do you think it is overkill to get both NCAA and NFL 2005? Or is the gameplay and franchise mode different enough? I have Madden 2004, but I've never played NCAA football.

The Dynasty system in NCAA is completely different, since it's college football. Instead of signing free agents and holding a draft, players go through a recruiting phase where they try to draw blue chip prospects into their ranks. Each season, you have the option to redshirt your stud prospects to help season them, or you can let them breeze through 4 years of eligibility. Either way, you have more turnover among players, because no one gets more than 4 years eligibility.
The 2005 version even has disciplinary measures. If a guy misses curfew, you might suspend him for a half, or your star runningback might get caught with some booster money. You could suspend him for three games as an example, or you could just let him play--and get the NCAA breathing down your neck.
Playbooks are different, too. More trick plays, different formations, etc.

NFL2K5 is absolutely amazing, and at a low price of $20 it's well worth it. I've heard a lot of good things about EA's NCAA series(unlike their madden series) but I don't like college football so I can't give you any first hand experience on it. I've just heard the game plays flawlessly

I love the gameplay/graphics of ESPN 2k5, not a huge fan of the franchise mode, but I think I'll end up just playing single games and tournaments with friends on it. NCAA is flawless to me, I've played a ton of seasons in the three weeks I've had it, but I heard that there are huge slowdown problems on a certain version of XBOX.

I am not a big fan of college sports video games because the pro franchise features interest me more. The graphics on ESPN NFL 2k5 look amazing and if the AI is the same or better than last year than the game play and realism should be amazing. I dont know too much about the franchise mode though and that is my favorite thing to do. Madden has supposively upgraded the AI but I dont know too much about their changes. At 20 bucks I think it would be hard to not buy ESPN unless Madden wipes the floor with it which is unlikely. I will probably buy ESPN and maybe buy Madden too if it looks really good.

I'm going to rent Madden proabaly, and if it did improve as much as it was supposed to have, I will probably get it if it is close to ESPN in gameplay just because the franchise mode is great.

I like the NCAA games better than pro football partly because of a greater selection of plays. Plus, you get to make your own BCS system that actually works. I'm getting a PC notebook so I could get both NCAA and Madden and see which one is better. Probably not a contest though, I like both pro and college equally.

I'll just play some scrabble personally... Q without a U baby! :D

The book mentioned several Q-without-U words, but I only remember two: qat and qwerty.
