Should Matt Leinart leave the USC trojans so he can go to the NFL?January 14, 2005 at 02:39AM View BBCode
I think Leinart can have great success in the NFL. I do think the Browns will end up trying to get him in the draft if he does.January 14, 2005 at 07:19PM View BBCode
I hope he stays but what else does he have left to prove?January 14, 2005 at 07:21PM View BBCode
Hurry, he is waiting for the result of this poll to make his decision.January 14, 2005 at 07:24PM View BBCode
And San Francisco selects...January 14, 2005 at 07:39PM View BBCode
No kidding. There's no chance he gets past San Francisco with the first pick.January 14, 2005 at 07:48PM View BBCode
unless SF does something stupid like trade down. Which is possible considering that they need alot of good players.January 14, 2005 at 07:54PM View BBCode
Well then it wouldn't be something stupid, would it?January 14, 2005 at 07:56PM View BBCode
it would still be stupid. If you have a chance to get a franchise QB you don't pass it up.January 14, 2005 at 07:58PM View BBCode
To be honest, they aren't in a good cap situation anyway, since they desperately need to hang on to Julian Peterson. Add his contract and the No. 1 pick in the draft to the mix, and they will have little room to negotiate with free agents. Trading the pick is probably the smartest thing they can do--if Matt Leinart stays at USC, it's the only thing they should do.January 14, 2005 at 08:00PM View BBCode
Well yeah, if you could project him as such. But maybe he's just Heath Shuler with better hair. The 49ers are so far from competing, and need so many players at so many positions, that a team in their position really should be thinking about drafting to quantity and hoping they uncover some later-round gems, rather than putting all their hopes on one quarterback who may not even be the best QB in the draft.January 14, 2005 at 08:07PM View BBCode
If Lienart stay and they are in cap trouble the best thing for them to do may be to trade down make some tough cuts and stink for one more year. This way they may be able to have their cake and eat it too.January 14, 2005 at 08:09PM View BBCode

The 49ers just may be stubborn enough to stick with Rattay because they have so many other positions to address. Even if Leinert leaves USC I could see SF going for a RB or OL/DL, since those positions are pretty deep this year.January 14, 2005 at 09:49PM View BBCode

Let's examine the options:January 14, 2005 at 10:42PM View BBCode
Seriously, this is not something you are going to see often, turning down millions for a chance to *gasp* enjoy yourself! Good to see.January 14, 2005 at 10:43PM View BBCode

He's going to really regret it if he suffers a bad injury next year.January 14, 2005 at 11:37PM View BBCode
