Yeah, and Pythagoream is a very good owner. Especially when he uses his theories in regards to his favorite angles.March 21, 2005 at 03:19AM View BBCode

Are you kidding? Man, Pythagoras is THE giant in Angle team history, he totally dwarfs anyone else who's ever worked for the franchise. Not only does he have the mad skillz with the theories, but he totally put all his money into the club and lowered beer prices AT THE SAME TIME! TAHT'S TOTALLY CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE ROXORS TO THE MAXXXXXX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!March 21, 2005 at 04:15AM View BBCode
The reason there is no love for the Mets is that they're just not that good. Signing Pedro is only a slight improvement in the pitching staff over Al Leiter who went to Florida. Lets be honest here. Pedro has some more wins over the past few seasons, mostly because he's been on a vastly better team. In terms of ERA, Pedro is certainly impressive. He should win more games for New York than Leiter would but we're still talking 15-17 range for Pedro. I'm not sold on either Benson or Zambrano to be the saviors and losing Traschel will certainly hurt the staff as he's been their best (or at least most consistent pitcher) over the past few seasons. Even adding Kaz Ishii won't solve that-it'll just put more men on base via the walk.March 21, 2005 at 04:17AM View BBCode

Beltran was a great signing - he's a proven star who is going to be very good, it's better to sign a top-tier player than to spend half as much as someone who might suck and at best still wont be as good - that's the kind of spending that kills teams, and that was the Mets' gameplan before this year. The Benson contract was dumb, as were the countless others given to mediocre pitchers this offseason, but it was really the only really bad contract given out by the Mets this year. And unlike some teams that gave out these horrible deals, they can afford to eat a few (which they are already doing). This is a much improved team with a few high-talent young players like David Wright and Jose Reyes, and will contend.March 21, 2005 at 04:37AM View BBCode
I'm glad someone's on my side here... I honestly believe that things will actually come together as it did in 2000 (when things were just as unlikely as they are now) when they last made the World Series on the arm of MIKE FUCKING HAMPTON... :lol:March 21, 2005 at 02:09PM View BBCode
For the record the Yankees still blow, but I do have them winning the division in my predictions...March 21, 2005 at 02:43PM View BBCode
Mets are VERY improved, i pick them to come 3rd but at the same time make TONS of noise, if there pitching comes together and they saty heathly i can see them in wild card.March 21, 2005 at 03:34PM View BBCode

Hey wait... Who won the first series of the season between those two teams last year? Oh yeah, that's right it was the Red Sox. Now who won the division? The Yankees. Oops there goes that theory.March 21, 2005 at 08:25PM View BBCode
okay, Well i guess we can all follow up on this after 30 or so games into the season. but i do feel that boston has the edge right now.March 21, 2005 at 08:35PM View BBCode
If you don't believe that the Yankees are thinking just a TINY BIT about the greatest collapse in professional sports history, or about the subsequent first World Series win in 87 years by their archrivals, you're dense enough to root for the Yankees.March 21, 2005 at 08:36PM View BBCode
Well, every game of the season counts for half a game in the standings, so they obviously count for something.March 21, 2005 at 08:41PM View BBCode
Each game is important and September games are only important if you are in a tight race. But if you are dominant throughout the season like the '98 Yankees were then you can rest in September and start players like Homer Bush.March 21, 2005 at 08:48PM View BBCode
Um, the Red Sox were the champions of both the AL and ML. I'm sure Steinbrenner is really pumping his fist in delight over claiming another AL East crown, but the fact remains that the Red Sox finished ahead of the Yankees last year.March 22, 2005 at 11:27PM View BBCode
I have the Mets fourth, but I think 2-4 in that division could go to basically anybody, its a tossup. I think they will beat up on each other too much for any of them to get the wild card, though.Pages: 1
