If the Saints ever won a Super Bowl (ha...fat chance), they'd destroy it anyway. Or is that Detroit?

I read that whole article and there were only 4 paragraphs on the superdome... but this is really sad if he actually did.
"The mayor also fiercely denied rumors that he had ordered relief workers to stop delivering water to those who refused to evacuate."

I guess I'm enough of a federalist to believe that people who defy government instructions issued for their own good voluntarily place themselves outside the government safety net. Priority of support and assistance should go to those who are doing as they're asked. In dealing with mass numbers of people, centralization is sometimes necessary for maximizing effective use of limited resources.

If those people want to come to a central point for water, fine. If they want to comply with the authorities' requests to evacuate, fine. If they refuse to leave, then they should be the lowest priority for assistance. That's not to say that they should be denied assistance outright, but that they be taken care of after everyone else. You break the rules, there are consequences.

In the Garden District they now have fires caused by people who refuse to leave. And then, after refusing to leave, they have the audacity to complain about the response time to the situation that THEY CREATED! I can't belief the selfishness and stupidity of some people. One of the reasons they've been asked to leave is because the authorities knew they couldn't respond to the emergency situations that might be created. Response times are not normal right now. NOTHING is normal right now.

As far as I'm concerned, those folks who are in defiance of orders to evacuate and then cause fires should be charged with arson. Of course, that implies that there is any effective means of law enforcement in NO right now, and I doubt that's the case. Looks more like martial law, which...sadly...is probably what it needs to be for awhile.

Anybody ask you Furious?

This is a forum, read and respond to whatever you'd like, but if you have zero input, keep your fingers off the keyboard.

This is a Sports Talk forum, knucklehead. Not to mention that about 4 or 5 of these got closed yesterday. Take a hint and stop.

All I said was that it was a beautiful piece of writing. Didn't post my opinions on the topic. Why don't you give it a rest since you seem to want to stick your nose into every friggin argument and get booted off the board because you don't know how to shut up.

Whatever. Just don't think that any of the arguments that you called "beautiful" hold water simply because no one is challenging them. This is not the forum to do it, and some of us can take a hint about letting a topic rest. I'm done with this now.

Ok - no more topics on the hurricane. I'm making an addendum to the rules so that this will be the means for bannishment.
