Anyone out there want to trade a pitcher for a batter, testing the new code for the number of pitchers?

The PHI Trades offered Pete Vogel, RF for Bill Johnson, SP.

The NYA Zephyrs started out with 9 pitchers and 16 batters.

Test Results:
• Accepted trade without demoting or promoting anyone. If it goes through I would end up with 8 pitchers and 17 batters (25 total).

Trade FAILED - ERROR: Your major league team does not have between 9 and 12 major league Pitchers as a result of this trade. Please go back and make the appropriate adjustments.

  • Accepted trade by bringing up a RP. This would mean I would end up with 9 pitchers, but only 4 starters. Batters would be 17. (26 total)
Trade FAILED - ERROR: Your team does not have 25 major leaguers as a result of this trade. Please go back and make the appropriate adjustments.

  • Accepted trade by bringing up a RP and demoting a batter. This would mean I would end up with 9 pitchers, but only 4 starters. Batters would be 16. (25 total)
Trade FAILED - ERROR: Your major league team does not have between 13 and 16 major league Position Players as a result of this trade. Please go back and make the appropriate adjustments. The error message is incorrect. My team would have between 13 and 16 position players, but only 4 SPs.

  • Accepted trade by bringing up a SP but did NOT demote a batter. This would mean I would end up with 9 pitchers, including 5 starters. Batters would be 17. (26 total)
Trade FAILED - ERROR: Your team does not have 25 major leaguers as a result of this trade. Please go back and make the appropriate adjustments.

  • Accepted trade by bringing up a SP and demoting a batter. This would mean I would end up with 9 pitchers, including 5 starters. Batters would be 16. (25 total)
Trade FAILED - ERROR: Your major league team does not have between 13 and 16 major league Position Players as a result of this trade. Please go back and make the appropriate adjustments. This should have PASSED. I promoted a SP, replacing Johnson, (keeping 9 pitchers - 5 SP, 4 RP). I demoted Thompson to make room for Vogel, keeping 16 position players on my roster.

  • Accepted trade by bringing up a SP and demoting 2 batters. This would mean I would end up with 9 pitchers, including 5 starters. Batters would be 15. (24 total)
Trade FAILED - ERROR: Your team does not have 25 major leaguers as a result of this trade. Please go back and make the appropriate adjustments.

  • Accepted trade by bringing up a SP, a RP, and demoting a batter. This would mean I would end up with 10 pitchers, including 5 starters. Batters would be 16. (26 total)
Trade FAILED - ERROR: Your team does not have 25 major leaguers as a result of this trade. Please go back and make the appropriate adjustments.

  • Accepted trade by bringing up a SP, a RP, and demoting 2 batters. This would mean I would end up with 10 pitchers, including 5 starters. Batters would be 15. (25 total)
Trade SUCCEEDED. It looks like ABE wants to keep a 10 pitcher, 15 batter roster.

Bart - after we reverse the trade, I will set my team to 12 pitchers/13 batters. We can then try the same trade and see if ABE forces a 10/15 roster.

Actually, to reverse ABE is forcing a 10/15 split. If its OK with you I'm going to give Tyson a day to fix that bug and then switch back-testing the fix as it were.

No problem, in fact you can problem solve the trade once Tyson has fixed the bug and you accept my trade offer.

I'm having trouble re-creating these. I wonder if it has to do with player rest - did you have guys on rest while trying to make these trades?

Ok - I've put some checks in to make sure resting players are taken into account. Can you let me know if you run into other problems?

Also - note that its not illegal to only have 4 SP as a result of a trade. You just won't be able to set your rotation or make other future moves until you get back to 5 SP.

Yes, I had 1 RP resting when the trade was made.

I think that might have been the cause. I added some logic to handle resting players in the error checking.

I did not have anyone resting when the initial trade occurred but put one on rest afterwards.
