I have a graphic artist who is working with us to clean up the site design and provide a fresh look for the site. We're testing out some new images on Beta to see how they work out. I'm not sure if we'll have these ready for the main site by September or not.

Please let me know if this causes any techinical problems, particulalry if you are using a Mac, Netscape, or IE. (since I use FireFox now)

I like the new logo. What other cosmetic changes are in the works?

I'm using a Mac (OS X 10.4.7) and see no operation problems.
Not sure if this is a problem, but I do see a green area to the right of the baseball.
The new logo doesn't go all across the top to fill the screen width. As I stretch the window wider, the logo stays the same size and the green color expands to fit.

We're not quite sure yet. I'm thinking of changing the colors for the tables on the site - like the stats, player card, etc. We might redesign the player cards. We're definitely going to do some other things though - should have some more things by next week.Tyson

This is something I can live with, but it does detract from the entire header. It looks odd with an abrupt line between the solid green zone and the baseball. In addition, right now the solid green space expands to a certain point, then it too stops abruptly. At least it is aligned with the table on the page when the window is stretched beyond the table edge.
I'm sure the "background color" is set to a solid green, maybe it should be a "grasslands" look with a solid green stripe where the menu bar is located. Since the menu bar can be located above or below the the header, accomplishing this two tier look may be difficult. Perhaps a solid green field between the logo and baseball would work.
It would look better if the header expanded with the with of the window and the "grass" between the left and right logo expanded. If you are able to program this, I would suggest the banner ad to remain centered between the logo and baseball no matter the size of the window. Maybe the "green" zone could expand to the entire width of the window, although where it stops now is logical and looks OK.
PS - I am using Safari and Firefox on a Mac with the latest OS. Also, these are only cosmetic suggestions - I can live with the current header as, to me, it is less important than the nuts and bolts of the game.

The nice thing about these changes is that they don't detract from other areas of development - I have someone else doing this work. I hope people on the main site will understand that and not say things like, "I can't believe you changed the look of the site and XYZ is still broken".

Yeah, we need to figure something out for the right of the artwork at the top. Are there plans to redo the banner artwork for AL/NL/World Champions? I realize it isn't important enough to become a priority, but right now it looks rather odd. For those that can't see it, it currently looks like:hobos has attached this image:

The World Champion banner is cut off showing only about the left 1/8 of the banner while the rest (behind the ad etc) is the normal? background

I think we're going to need new champ banners. I've removed them for the timebeing.Pages: 1
