I understand that it takes time for a manager to turn things around for a losing ballclub, but in this case his firing was justified. Anytime you take out a guy pitching a 3-hit shutout with one down in the 9th up, you're up by 5 runs and still lose the ball game something is wrong. Anytime you mismanage a team the way he has, you deserve to go.

That's nuts. You're saying he deserved to be fired because ONE decision he made didn't pan out? Maybe the starting pitcher was tired (CGSOs are rare these days). Maybe he was given a crappy bullpen by management.

That's nuts. You're saying he deserved to be fired because ONE decision he made didn't pan out? Maybe the starting pitcher was tired (CGSOs are rare these days). Maybe he was given a crappy bullpen by management.

In the firing, management said that P. had done all the right things, they just wern't working so it was time for a change. Joe Giradi is a good manager and will be a great one, as long as he lasts more than one season. He'll bring them right back to basics.

If you had noticed, I also mentioned mismanage which is the main point, and was using that loss as an example of his many decisions that has that team in last place.[/color]

the guys in the pen aren't terrible, they've been unlucky. they pitched very well at the start of the season, and yes, they were lucky then, the truth lies somewhere in the middle, but they're good pitchers. it is a shame for perlazzo, after being with the club for so long, to be fired like that really; it was hardly his fault. they would have won that silly mother's day game against boston anyway if ray had handled a throw at first base.Pages: 1
