happy is the most underrated poster of all time.February 12, 2010 at 10:21PM View BBCode
I saw a link to a story on Baseball Reference about Frank Thomas and the title said something like, "We say good bye to Frank Thomas." I assumed he had died until I clicked through and read the story. I thought he'd been retired for a few years now.February 12, 2010 at 10:44PM View BBCode
Frank Thomas will get in on the first ballot.February 12, 2010 at 10:53PM View BBCode

I think someone would have given him a job last year if he wasn't "The Big A-hole".February 13, 2010 at 01:03AM View BBCode

" Auburn baseball coach Hal Baird told Sports Illustrated. "He was fun to be around?always smiling, always bright-eyed."February 13, 2010 at 03:10AM View BBCode
Well [url=http://www.iowastatedaily.com/articles/2001/02/27/sports/20010227-archive3.txt]this guy[/url] didn't think much of Frank either .February 13, 2010 at 05:39AM View BBCode
So he was unhappy with his pay, and some guy in Iowa made the same tired argument against him that has been made against athletes who are unhappy with their pay for the last fifty years. This is what we are using to make the case that he's an ass? Because this seems to me like the kind of thing that's usual in just about every field, and is not limited to jerks.February 13, 2010 at 08:56AM View BBCode
I'll admit I was wrong in my comment. I searched the web and couldn't find anything bad teammates have said about the guy. I haven't found many nice either though.February 13, 2010 at 11:10AM View BBCode
lol that roosters referenced the Iowa State University newspaper website...from 2001.February 13, 2010 at 01:04PM View BBCode

You really think Frank Thomas is going to take a backseat to Mike Mussina and Jeff Kent? Maddux, Glavine, Frank Thomas, there's your class of 2014.February 13, 2010 at 06:06PM View BBCode
Frank Thomas is one of the best hitters of his generation. Sure, Maddux and (maybe) Glavine are more "automatic" HOFers, but to suggest he'll lose traction to Mussina and Jeff Kent would suggest you're as clueless as the BBWAA -- in which case, you might be on to something.February 13, 2010 at 06:37PM View BBCode

Honestly, I don't think a guy with 500+ home runs, a .300 AVG (which matters to probably a ton of voters), a .974 OPS (which matters to very few voters, but still, NINE-SEVENTY-FOUR) and two MVPs is going to lose too many votes to Jeff Kent or Mike Mussina. I don't see too many guys saying, "You know, Jeff Kent and/or Mike Mussina get my vote, but I'm leaving Frank Thomas off my ballot. Too prickly."February 13, 2010 at 08:58PM View BBCode
Bruce Sutter's in the HOF - these people are not rational .February 13, 2010 at 09:08PM View BBCode
I know they're not rational, which is exactly why you're emboldened to make this kind of point. I just don't think they're that stupid. He's got the credentials, and perhaps more importantly, he seems to be free and clear of the specter of PEDs. Maybe the voters flub it on his first try, but it won't be because they saw Mike Mussina and Jeff fucking Kent on the same ballot.February 13, 2010 at 09:34PM View BBCode
