That's just how they do it IN THE TWO-OH-NINE.

That interview is the douchiest thing I have come across in a loooooooong time, I watched it and thought "Seriously this guy (Urban) has a job with a real broadcasting network ?"

"We don't do a lot of talkin' in the two oh nine ", probably not a lot of personal grooming or "Book lurnin'" either .

This reminds me of the Barney Miller episode where Fish goes to the bathrom at the start of the episode and doesn't show up again until the closing credits where he picks up the phone and says, "Bernice, I'm coming right home. I fell asleep on da toilet again..."

it reminds me of YOUR FACE! OO BURN!!!!

Can't fault a guy for being tired, except when it's seeming more and more like he's phoning it in this year for more money then I make in 5 years.

Junior's making $2.35 million this year, not sayin' but I'm guessing that's a tad more than 5 years salary .

I was being conservative in my estimates. Looks like more like 30 years salary

So the M's pulled the plug on Cliff Lee to the Yanks, and apparently another team has surged forward in the bidding.

1. Thank God it's not the Yankees.
2. We had better not censored this up.

Reportedly Texas for Justin Smoak plus two.

This is good news.

For the universe, yes. For the M's, I'm not so sure. Justin Smoak has been far less than impressive this year, and his combined AAA/majors numbers are underwhelming: 14 home runs, 27 doubles and ~.725 OPS in 475-odd ABs. I've seen Max Ramirez mentioned as one of the other two. He'll be 26 in October, has spent seven years in the minors, and carries a .659 OPS over 102 AAA games, with equally mediocre major-league numbers.

The latest is Smoak plus three for Lee and Mark Lowe. Apparently a done deal.

I really wish we'd just held our noses and taken the Yankees package. Apparently David Adams, one of the three prospects, has a sprained ankle, maybe even a bad one. But Jesus Montero was the best player available.

doesn't this belong in "Seattle talk"

Seriously, what did they give up for Lee?

poor texas. at least they'll get whatever they can win and the picks. that thing is going to sign with the yankees next season. LOL.

Next time I will post it one of the boards no one reads, yes.

Who, the Mariners? A couple pitching prospects and an outfielder, none of which were blue-chippers.

At least it wasn't the Yankees. Yankees, Red Sox, Celtics, Lakers; I'm tired of hearing about all of these evil empires.

Baseball needs a salary cap, not some fru-fru luxury tax BS. An honest-to-god hard salary cap. So does basketball.

Shut up.

Looking at the rest of the package (Blake Beavan, Matt Lawton, Josh Lueke), I feel a lot better about the deal. I still prefer Montero to Smoak, but those three easily beat the two others the Yankees were offering.

THE Matt Lawton?

Christ, Matt Lawson.

(It's even better because Matt Lawton retired ... erm, was released as a Mariner.)
