I'm thinking the losses of Walter Jones, again, and Tatupu along with a couple of cornerbacks every week, it seemed, might have had a bit of a damper on the enthusiasm.

The Seahawks were ranked 15th in the NFL heading into the season by ESPN, which indicates they were considered a viable playoff contender, which when you are coming off 4-12 certainly seems like high expectations to me.

Greg Knapp was a good OC in San Francisco. It was stupid of Atlanta to hire him, but it wasn't Knapp's fault.

I had a futures bet (again with the futures) Seahawks would win more games than the Oregon Ducks. The Ducks looked terrible, and I thought the Seahawks would win the division.

More classes for me.

Lofa's injury definitely hurt, but Walter Jones was a given. The guy didn't play a down in '09 -- I know we didn't shut him down until October, but he was written out of the script before Week 1.

I wouldn't say that's for sure at all. Knapp had great talent in San Francisco, and when it began to decline, the offense was pretty average in his last year there. It's like saying that Romeo Crennel was a great DC in New England, or Billick a great OC in Minnesota.

His performance in Atlanta was autistic, like legendarily divorced from the reality of his personnel. The only real competition for worst OC of the decade was John Shoop.

The real problem with the '09 Seahawks was Hasselbeck turning into a black hole of suck.

Pete Carroll? Huh. Will have to sleep on that one. If Leiweke gives him total autonomy as GM, though, I will have a problem.

Matt Hasselbeck was a really, really good QB for, what, 4 or 5 years? Hey, here's a thought - I'll trade you the Redskins' decade for the Seahawks'. Take me up on that?

This probably also means we'll be drafting Taylor Mays, in which case fuck fuck fuckkity fuck.

If Pat Kirwan is really hired as GM like the rumors say I am going to be very angry.

Since we are part of the Seahawks market even though nobody here really gives a shit about them (it is a college football town, with some support for the Seahawks when they're good, and more for the Raiders when they're good, so yeah, a college football town), pretty much all I'm hoping for is that Carroll will bless us with similar sartorial chops to this dude.

Because we already agree that they're going to have about the same measure of NFL coaching success, right?

Carroll wasn't all that bad in his previous NFL stints.

And at USC, he didn't have a salary cap, so this upcoming uncapped year may be right in his wheelhouse...

Two touchdowns for Julian Edelman, and the Pats lose. That should be enough to make everyone here happy, yes?

Why would I want Julian Edelman to be successful? The last thing New Englanders need is another white receiver to root for.

because when he is successful people in Boston sports bars in San Francisco buy me drinks.
