i think most people would agree with that, which is why so many are pointing out how wrong (they believe) khaz is for holding the opposite opinion.June 04, 2010 at 07:35PM View BBCode
I can't compare them age to age because if the difference in injuries in their careers. Junior turned to paper when he was traded to the Reds. Henderson was fortunate enough to not suffer any serious injuries over his career.June 04, 2010 at 08:15PM View BBCode
Griffey did miss a ton of time with Cincinnati .June 04, 2010 at 08:43PM View BBCode
all true. none of which has anything to do with him not hanging around until he was completely ineffective, a la rickey henderson. because that's exactly what junior did.June 04, 2010 at 08:54PM View BBCode
eh, its like 98 at bats or something. Jr hit 19 home runs last season, he wasn't that terrible. he didn't have it here this year, he retired, he could have "hung around" until the end of the season if he wanted to, or they could release him.June 04, 2010 at 11:45PM View BBCode
I think Junior just got fed up with having his naps interrupted so he decided to just retire.June 04, 2010 at 11:55PM View BBCode
Anyone know why Griffey Jr. changed numbers ?June 05, 2010 at 12:24AM View BBCode
Crappy Tony Perez wore #24 with the Reds, and had his number retired, which is why Griffey had to switch. Not sure why he switched to #3, but that number is retired with the White Sox (Harold Baines. Like, really?), so he had to switch again, I guess.June 06, 2010 at 06:29PM View BBCode
I dug a little further with the White Sox numbers, Crede was #24 and Swisher was #30 when Jr. got there.June 06, 2010 at 06:30PM View formatted

Swisher switched to #1 so Griffey could have #30 but I guess Griffey wore #17 for a game or something.
Still don't know why the #3 in Cincinnati though.

Just once I'd love to hear a major league answer that question with, "It was available."June 07, 2010 at 09:15PM View BBCode
They did some thing on "best players by number" back in the day. Over all sports and such. The worst player who was the best for his number was #69. It was some mediocre offensive lineman who made the pro bowl like twice or something.Pages: 1 2
