Just wondering: Why 2008 and why MLB ?

As stated above, comparing our data to MLB as a whole is unrealistic as the American league uses a DH and thus the offensive numbers skew considerably higher.

Beta last season had 40 players, out of 16 teams, with OPS over .900 over the past 10 years MLB with 30 teams has never had more than 32 players in a single season with OPS above .900.

So the benchmarks are a league BA in the .255-260 range; league OBP of about .330; league SLG of about .410; league ERA around 4.30; league K/IP of just under 7.
