that might be the most egregious example of censored homerism i've seen since pearly's brady thread.

(did you seriously call a canadian a casual fan of hockey?)

((you're fighting a stupid battle, you know. ovie absolutely deserved to be suspended. you are certainly welcome to argue that others should have been as well, but to suggest that he shouldn't, or that superstar players get harsher treatment from the league on suspensions is pretty flipping dumb.))

Wisniewski from anaheim just got 8 games for his shot on Seabrook, and he's not a superstar. More like a 3rd-4th line defencemen. I hope him and Ovie burn in Hockey hell.

My blackhawks are physically hurting.

I'm implying that out of all those other guys, they can be put them under a slow-motion microscope on YouTube and find something "dirty" about them. Guaranteed. But they don't have the media appeal of Ovechkin, so you and other casual fans won't give a rat's ass about them.

There you have it folks. Only when a player of Ovechkin's caliber is involved in something and you happen to catch it on SportsCenter, you care ... more? If it's Steve Downie or Jarkko Ruuto or Steve Ott or some other 3rd-4th liner, care ... less?

So your basic argument boils down to "other guys are dirty too" ?

My point about "care less" is that the fact that others commit flagrant acts doesn't justify Ovechkin or anyone else from doing it.

But it's okay, you'll just do the homer thing and complain about the big bad NHL ganging up on poor Alex .

look on the bright side- it gives them an opportunity to blame playoff failure on something other than christobal huet.

In fact, we should bump this for the playoffs.

It's only one game, breathe you'll be OK .

Now if I was a San Jose fan I'd be shitting myself because they just look like they are trying to find a way to lose.

Capitals lost two last year to open the first round to a crappy team but still won the series (and won the first two against the Penguins but lost that series).

That will be the one and only game the Habs keep the Caps to 2 goals.

That was awesome. I would like one of you people to buy me a Nick Backstrom jersey.

That was pretty great. And Ubaldo Jimenez pitched a no-hitter and the Mets and Cards are tied at 0-0 through 17. What a day!

(How about if I buy you a Halak jersey because that guy is terrible. I will now be the one who is embarrassed for Team Slovakia.)

Montreal did not lose because of Halak, 3 of the 5 goals of the Capitals happen on a contact on Halak, It would have been crazy here in Montreal if the Canadiens would have win the 2 games at Washington

That game hurt a lot, wasting a 4-1 lead with around only 1 period to go..........

Wow, short memories. Halak stops 45 of 47 (including 10 in OT) on Thursday and Saturday night he's terrible .

That game has got to hurt for the Habs though, up by 3 with less than two minutes to go in the 2nd and then lose.

I'm putting myself on the Blackhawks bandwagon. There are now three marines in the shop who root for those guysh. Game 1 was a fluke, as with the majority of the other game 1s in the playoffs.

That, and I'm reading Hocus Pocus.

(For the record, it's like looking in a mirror for me. Except I wasn't actually alive in Vietnam, nor do I have any commissioned officer aspirations.)

The second best part of that exchange came later -- Semin got called for hooking while Poti was still in the box, so Poti wasn't on ice for the penalty kill. ;)

I was at the game. It was freakin' nuts. Loudest I've ever heard the VC. Theodore pulled after three shots, dueling hat tricks, Poti and Gomez fight (5 combined NHL fights between them) ... just nuts.

Varlamov bailed the Caps out at least a couple of times that period. This is the second straight year they've dumped Theodore early for Varlamov, at some point Boudreau just has to trust him in the regular season too, right? I mean, we can't keep doing this shit every year.
