Apparently, Plaschke never really cared for the acquisition of Manny Ramirez. I'll snoop around some BP archives... But as usual, no one listened to his stark raving whatev, and poof! Some of the most priceless audio you'll find on the web these days.

many more DID suffer at the hands of these drugs, so we educate people and criminalize the substances, in the name of protecting kids.
that's what they say this whole thing is truly about, protecting kids from the long term dangers of abusing steroids.

I had to go into rehab about a year ago when I began to have the DVD commentaries memorized. I haven't watched an episode in quite awhile. I haven't seen the last two movies yet, either. I thought the second one was stupid. Okay nerdlinger, shut up about Futurama.

By which you mean, of course, that he can't accurately measure it against some baseline standard of performance that gives those numbers tangible and absolute meaning, because we CAN count, very easily, just how many times the ball went over the fence.
And I have been saying this for eons: The statistics were incomprehensible long before the steroid era. Different eras, different balls, bats, ballparks, training methods, etc. There's no rational way to compare these guys. I mean it really wouldn't be that hard to look at steroids as another training innovation and simply live with it, as we've come to live with batting gloves and shaved handles and everything else. The only reason the steroid mess even matters is that there's a public perception that it violates a trust between the players and the fans.
Which it does, because it does. There's no way around that. But the public health issue is, and should be, the only relevant perspective on this, and it is the least relevant. This notion that the game was somehow pristine before steroids is ludicrous, though not so much as thinking steroids makes judging players by their statistics significantly less pointless and impossible.
censored it. The HOF ballot should be like the All-Star ballot. It should COME with the All-Star ballot, and be just as relevant.

it seems (from what i can tell) to be strictly a female fertility drug (in pregnancy it helps sustain the fetus, before pregnancy i believe this says it can trigger ovulation). in men, it supposedly helps the body to produce testosterone naturally when said body stops having steroids fed to it. there is a little bit here about its controversial (or doubtful, whatever) useage as a weight loss adjunct.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_chorionic_gonadotropin

Basically it makes the testes start kicking out testosterone, which is necessary for the testes to make sperm.
