I promised a Bill Plaschke sound byte, and damnit, I don't want to disappoint.May 08, 2009 at 02:05AM View BBCode
Is there backstory here? Does Plaschke have some, like, long-standing vendetta against Manny? Or is this just ordinary, run-of-the-mill Plaschke lunacy?May 08, 2009 at 02:06AM View BBCode

Apparently, Plaschke never really cared for the acquisition of Manny Ramirez. I'll snoop around some BP archives... But as usual, no one listened to his stark raving whatev, and poof! Some of the most priceless audio you'll find on the web these days.May 08, 2009 at 02:27AM View BBCode

The episode is "When Aliens Attack," ep 1-12. 1ACV12, if you want to be technical about it, and I do.May 08, 2009 at 02:57AM View BBCode
(It was on Comedy Central, I don't know, a couple of days ago. I think I've seen that one about half a dozen times.)May 08, 2009 at 03:03AM View BBCode
I had to go into rehab about a year ago when I began to have the DVD commentaries memorized. I haven't watched an episode in quite awhile. I haven't seen the last two movies yet, either. I thought the second one was stupid. Okay nerdlinger, shut up about Futurama.May 08, 2009 at 04:33AM View BBCode

And I have been saying this for eons: The statistics were incomprehensible long before the steroid era. Different eras, different balls, bats, ballparks, training methods, etc. There's no rational way to compare these guys. I mean it really wouldn't be that hard to look at steroids as another training innovation and simply live with it, as we've come to live with batting gloves and shaved handles and everything else. The only reason the steroid mess even matters is that there's a public perception that it violates a trust between the players and the fans.
Which it does, because it does. There's no way around that. But the public health issue is, and should be, the only relevant perspective on this, and it is the least relevant. This notion that the game was somehow pristine before steroids is ludicrous, though not so much as thinking steroids makes judging players by their statistics significantly less pointless and impossible.

it seems (from what i can tell) to be strictly a female fertility drug (in pregnancy it helps sustain the fetus, before pregnancy i believe this says it can trigger ovulation). in men, it supposedly helps the body to produce testosterone naturally when said body stops having steroids fed to it. there is a little bit here about its controversial (or doubtful, whatever) useage as a weight loss adjunct.May 08, 2009 at 02:46PM View BBCode

perhaps manny saw this florida doctor and said doctor said manny's nuts were too small, and perhaps this might help them grow bigger. or perhaps manny wanted to ovulate, maybe he is actually a woman. a very ugly woman. marginally more ugly than fergie.
In the male, hCG injections are used to stimulate the leydig cells to synthesize testosterone. The intratesticular testosterone is necessary for spermatogenesis from the sertoli cells. Typical uses for hCG in men include hypogonadism and fertility treatment.

one day i am going to learn how to read. if manny wants [his wife to have] more kids, he just needs to have melvin mora to come over and stay for a while.May 08, 2009 at 03:03PM View BBCode
However, Manny did also have abnormally high testosterone in his system, which wouldn't be apparent in 99% of fertility concern type cases.May 08, 2009 at 03:25PM View BBCode
Let's use our common sense, shall we? We all know why Manny used it.May 08, 2009 at 03:33PM View formatted
