Lakers fans are horrendous. Anyone in the first tier is a celebrity, and therefore too engrossed in trying to look good for the cameras to really watch a basketball game (with the exception of Nicholson, who is insane), and the remaining seats are reserved for the slightly less wealthy. They show up late to the start of a game (even in the playoffs), they miss the start of the third quarter (on account of the lines to the bathroom, where everyone is invariably waiting during halftime to do some coke), and they can be taken out of a game if some journeyman hits a layup that brings his team within six, or if Slava misses a jumpshot (Christ, what did you expect?).

I hate the Lakers.

Tonight, before I go to sleep, I am going to pray for John Kerry in '04, a world series for the M's in '06 (eh, let's be realistic--'09) and the Pistons in seven.

Seems like a bunch of whining. When Phil Jackson coached the Bulls everyone thought he was the best coach in basketball. Now that he is coaching the Lakers you hate him. Give the man his due. He knows basketball and is a great coach. There aren't very many coachs that have accomplished as much as him. Should receive the recognition he deserves. I'm a Lakers fan but I don't whine when they don't win.

No problem with Phil Jackson, he's a great coach....

My problem is just with the fans behavior in LA. Did they have to act like petulant children when every little thing didn't go their way? I hope LA never gets an NFL team, they hardly deserve it. Atlanta still has, by far, the worst fans in the country but LA isn't far behind. Most of the people attending those games go for all the wrong reasons and it's all too apparent. Just listen to them boo at all the wrong places, and cheer madly like over-caffenated chimps when the big flashy monitor above the court tells them to...

Indeed, I think praying is the only way it may happen, sadly.
While you're praying for Kerry, pray that he develops even a small nugget of charisma as well....

Suggested Kerry '04 campaign slogan and bumpersticker:

John Kerry: Because Abraham Lincoln was f***ing ugly, too

My two cents-
Lakers suck. Gary Payton is a traitor.

Hard to suck when your in the Finals. And as for Gary he just wants a ring.... can you blame him?

John Kerry has tons of charisma. You don't get to be a big Hollywood star, featured in three blockbuster movies like Scream, Scream 2 and Scream 3 without charisma.

Is Phil really a great coach? That is something I always wondered. He has a very hands off approach and seems to be always sitting down instead of pacing up and down like other coaches. He won but look at the players he has had, the best player in the history of the game in Jordan and the best sidekick in the history of the game Pippen in Chicago. In LA he has had Shaq and Kobe and Shaq has been the most dominant player in the NBA since Jordan. Now he also has two other future HoFs in Payton and Malone. So is his success attributed to the fact that whenever he won Championships it was due to the fact that he had the most dominant player at the time on his team and atleast one good sidekick or the fact that he is a great coach or a mix?

ME, I know Layden made the Sprewell deal. I was using it to point out how retarded Layden was.

Phil is a very mental coach, he does most of his work before the season and games, during the games he lets the players sink or swim with the system he gives them. It's a very intelligent way to coach in todays' NBA.

The players nowadays have such massive egos, you could never show them up on the court or you've lost them, you HAVE to do all the real coaching away from the public eye...

Without Phil the Lakers would have self destucted 5 years ago. I have a feeling most coaches would have had a hard time in Chicago too.

Having all that talent is a double edged sword and it takes something special to balance things.
