Fuck the Dutch .

That game certainly didn't live up to it's potential but Brazil never really looked dominating in this tournament so I'm not shocked to see them out.

The longer the tourney goes on the more it looks like Spain are the best team there .

Will be interesting to see who the Brazilian confederation hires to be their next manager. It will have to be someone far less defensive now, considering Dunga's failure here and the pressure that will be on to play attacking football in their own World Cup. A few of the more obvious candidates have just recently gotten hired to new jobs, so the choice might end up being someone surprising.

Anyway. Hopefully Ghana can do well against Uruguay here, at least make a good game of it.

i think when the dust settles, they will stay with dunga. it is unfortunate to lose, but it is just one tournament. i believe they will give him another chance.

all i can say to you, is that it's not america. believe it or not, there are folks that can handle losing. amercians are not among them, of course. but the brasilians are, they know they can't win the thing every year.

(of course they probably fire him tomorrow.)

obviously it has more to do with his style than the result.

uruguay looks really strong right now.

(even managers that win a World Cup don't stay for a second in Brazil. Dunga was more unlucky than bad here, as there wasn't much he could do about his players temporarily losing it, but I'd be shocked if he sticks around.)

The thing with Uruguay here is that even when they're having all of the chances, they don't really have complete control over the game, because they're so direct. So Ghana will continue to at least have a decent amount of possession, and maybe they can do something with it.

maybe dunga will be the exception. you did say the other likely candidates were otherwise engaged. of course, i suppose one of them could take the job anyway. they can put dunga on the drug problem in Rio or something.

Maybe. I don't know, it will be interesting, I really don't have much idea who they'd turn to if Dunga is out. I think this says something about Dunga saying that his cycle has ended? But he could just be talking about his current contract, I only sort of have any idea what I'm reading there.

Anyway. Still sort of startled at what's just happened there. Christ. And now..."actual" penalties? Gyan will have to take another one, I'd imagine. And...well, yea.

Because they beat an African team? I wanted Ghana to win, too, but not losing isn't particularly villainous.

Because they won saved the game via intentional handball in the 120th minute, after their legs had basically given out and their last resort was to cheat. I mean, sucks that Gyan didn't convert the penalty, but they'd have won it if Suarez hadn't taken it upon himself to play Keeper No. 2.
