You guys are way overselling that. Clearly Randy Johnson has been a terrific pitcher for the better part of a decade. He's closing in on 300 wins and is one of only 4 pitchers with 4000 strikeouts. He's got 4 Cy Young awards (only Clemens has more) and to dismiss those who are voting for him as "Mariners fans" is just stupid.

Pedro had one of the greatest seasons any pitcher has ever had and had a run of 3-4 really good seasons. However, his longevity and his ability to be a premium pitcher has not been as good as most of the pitchers in this bracket. While I would have no problem with people voting for him it is anything but unreasonable to vote for Johnson over him.

And he hit a bird in flight!

Come on!

Who else in this enire tourney can say that.

Dean and Marichal.

Just couldn't bring myself to knock out Gibson voting for Feller.

I wasnt talking about this specific matchup. I think its reasonable, but im saying big unit is going all the way because of the mariners fans. I love the guy too, so i may be voting for him regularly too.

and jeez, look at everyone voting for Steroid Freak Roger Clemens. (yeah, im hypocritical about steroids. its because Clemens played practically his entire career destroying the orioles)

The sweet 16. This is getting exciting. We have some lightning rod matchups this round! The voting could begin to get violent!

wow, this next round is the easiest round so far for me. I have a clear favorite in every pick.

Sweet 16 is up

You can only vote for 2 players per day at this point (should give everyone a chance to vote)

3 out of 4 #5 seeds advanced, only one seed lower than 5 (Al Spalding at 6) made it this far.

man, im really surprised at some of these votes. Spalding over Young? Dean over Johnson? Gibson over Koufax? The maddux love is expected though.

i imagine the argument for gibson over koufqax is one on longevity, which is valid.. that was a tough bracket for me actually. the other two are head scratchers for me as well.

well I mean, im not voting for "best", im just voting for who I like, which is why im constantly voting against Clemens. And I mean, Dizzy Dean does have alliteration and a nickname going for him, but he didnt even like his nickname. seems like a spoilsport to me.

Al Spalding is kinda cool, because he has baseballs or some censored , but Cy Young has an award named after him. and 500 wins, thats pretty awesome.

Maybe he doesnt like Koufax cuz he is jewish (he's jewish, right?)

The second bracket was the hard one for me. I actually had Mathewson in it originally and Brown in Region I and I swapped them to even it out a little.

Originally it was Johnson, Grove, Mathewson, Alexander in that bracket and Matty was clearly the best 3 seed with Alexander far and away the best 4

I think basically anyone other than clemens winning is good enough for me. I like the other people.

Jchell's Johnson vote still needs to be confirmed. It could be either Walter or Randy. Happy is assuming its Randy for no necessary reason (although I'm sure he'll make one up to justify his assumption)
