Well I'm sort of on Happy's side because I believe that the Patriots' crime is the worst in the history of professional sports and if there was any justice in this world they'd just disband the franchise entirely and disperse their players throughout the league as punishment, and then ban Bill Belichick from the game for life.

well sure, but they planned ahead, got the tape early. were done with 15 games.

also, with the form thing, it wasnt about the grammar, it was about the intentional incompleteness of his sentences, as if he had somewhere to go.

oh boy. you really have swallowed the kool-aid, haven't you? only the most dyed-in-the-wool patriots fanatic could possibly call that uproar, subsequent punishment and general tarnishing of the team's accomplishemnts a 'non-issue'.
It's just like how half the world believes US prosperity is the result of our plundering helpless natives the world over.

it's not the only reason, no, but it sure doesn't hurt, does it?
The team that the Patriots put together is what it is. The fact that they did what every other team in the league did and got caught is really completely unrelated to the overall professionalism and success of the franchise. You don't win consistently for a decade because you taped walkthroughs on two occasions.

every other team in the league doesn't do it, actually. although i quite enjoy the juxtaposition of inane defences you've put together there. it's a 'non-issue' but 'every other team in the league' does it and the fact that our defence may often know what play the offence is running before the snap is 'completely unrelated' to the team's success. some wonderful constructions of logic there. and look, only someone who's even dumber than you think happy is could honestly believe that they only taped on two occasions. if you have a 'tool' that works, you use it. you don't only use it twice. that's just ridiculously naive.

This is all not even to mention that the 2007 undefeated season occurred after Spygate, as did the 11-5 2008 season without the MVP of the league.

funny, i must have missed something in the 2007 season. did they give the pats a mulligan on the superbowl? also, 11-5 in the afc east isn't really all that impressive.

Anyone with the eyes to see how the franchise has been run--the team concept, the balanced roster, the wise cap moves, the great drafts, the genius gameplans--realizes that none of it has anything to do with "cheating". "Cheating" is the cry of the losers who envy the Patriots' success.

the pats have a solid organization, no question. they've got good coaching, they draft well, sign well and most often play well. but as happy mentioned, it's an awful lot easier to play well when you know what's coming.

This really is so ridiculous as to not even be worth the time to argue...

well, you've got that part right at least. for the wrong reason, but still, it's the results that count not the methods, yes?

This post cracked me up. You have something like 10,000 posts on a fantasy baseball forum. You've actually made some kind of hall of fame of posting here. And you're trying to play the angle that *I* have no life. Talk about glass houses.

You probably won't see me on here for a year starting in mid May because I'm going to Iraq for the second time. I do have some time on my hands right now because I'm on rear D. No, I don't play Warhammer. And I do like hot pockets. Actually, lean pockets, but same thing.

Do you prefer Sausage and Pepperoni or Pepperoni and Sausage? (yes they make them both and yes, they're different)

Can someone show me the original Spygate thread? I don't want to go off on a tangent about that when someone else likely has already said what I have to say, and I KNOW there must be a Spygate thread already.

My last name is Edelman. The Patriots drafted an Edelman. The 49ers will still be my favorite team, but I'll be wearing an Edelman jersey if he makes the team this year and will watch the games with my from-Boston friends at the Boston-sports themed bar in San Francisco, the Buccaneer. (All these keywords are being used so this turns up in search engine results later. Finally, I can apply my search engine marketing skills in a non-professional setting!)

Was Mr. Irrelevant a placekicker? I guess they finally got it right.

The fact that I have my AC on is proof that global warming is a hoax, because warming means hot and it's cold in here.

See, but I dont talk in incomplete sentences, as if my time is simply too valuable to actually express myself completely. Just... a possible thought to consider: we are in the same position, but I am simply not in the closet about it.

Bill Clinton did not have sex with that woman. this affected his decision-making ability while in office, and the pursuit of this information was not a complete irrelevancy to the issue which ken star was theoretically investigating.

Global warming is a fact an unproven theory espoused solely by treehugging lefties that has been discredited by the scientific community.
