don't be ridiculous. jim brown's liver would have slapped riggins upside the head, reached down his throat, pulled riggins' heart out through his mouth and eaten it in front of him. with some fava beans and a nice chianti.

And thus begins the wave of suspensions. A-rod, Cruz and Colon better watch out!

what bothers people is the Lance Armstrong-esque denials that seem to try and elevate him to sainthood. Just read them now...

?I tried to handle the whole situation with honor, with integrity, with class, with dignity and with professionalism because that?s who I am and how I lived my life."

?I have always stood up for what is right. Today is about everybody who has ever been wrongly accused and everybody who has ever had to stand up for what is actually right."

?I will continue to take the high road because that?s who I am and that?s the way that I?ve lived my life. We won because the truth was on my side. The truth is always relevant and, at the end of the day, the truth prevailed."

Yeah it's pathetic already. When these guys apologize it makes you want to throw up. It sounds like they are reading off a paper that some PR guy handed them. I heard that MLB might try to ban A-rod for life!

if that happens? you will know that Brian Cashman has the single most awesome powers of persuasion in the entire known world. also, you should realize if that happens the Players Union did not get persuaded by Cashman, they got bought. but just only for this one time, and nobody is ever going to talk about it.

(a liftetime ban is the ONLY way the Yankees are going to get out of the money they so foolishly committed to when they extended him.)

i believe when he misses whole seasons though, on account of injury or suspension, their insurance helps out with the money they pay him. i would think that would also come into play if he never made it back here, got suspended and could not play at all this seasons. of course, the pro-rated money would be forfeit by ARod for the suspenison portion. so that part would be discounted in what the club gets on their insurance payout.

so a lifetime ban would mean the rest of the contract (after they sorted out what part of this season came under the insurance) would free up all those dollars for the Yankees to go to spending, ASAP which is what they truly want, they could perhaps resuce this season even.

to get a lifetime ban out of it would be their true, wet dream scenario. if they get that? wow. they had to pay off everybody in sight. perhaps including selig's favorite charity. which is otherwise known as the Milwaukee Brewers.

LOL. The Yankees have an insurance policy that if A-rod does not play a game this year they will be reimbursed for 20 of the 28 million they owe him for this season. Obviously if he is suspended he forfeits the money would be making over that time so the Yanks are praying that he gets a lifetime ban.

Jeter homers on the first pitch he sees! And then Soriano goes deep. Finally some power from the right side.

The only thing I don't like about Jeter is that he has won so many Gold Gloves. Sure, they guy catches everything he gets to...but he doesn't get to much! He's not a great fielder and the eyeball test will tell anyone that who isn't biased.

LOL read through pages 3-5 of this thread. I think it covers just about every facet of Jeter's game compared to other shortstops.

Yes, and it's Jeter's fault that he won five gold gloves, I'm sure he'd gladly trade them for the MVP Award he got screwed out of in 2006.

Then again I'm sure a lot of MVP winners would gladly trade their MVP award for one of Jeter's five World Series rings.

Jeter is great. He's a first ballot HOFer. But he wasn't a great fielder, despite what the impressionable baseball writers said.

The Gold Gloves are voted on by the MLB coaches and managers, it was the impressionable writers who jobbed Jeter of his MVP award.

Oops, my bad. Then it's the dumb coaches who kept give GGs to a statue.

I think any real baseball fan knows Jeter was not a great fielder. Gold gloves are pretty meaningless.

That list doesn't even include Tyra Banks, Scarlett Johansson or Vida Guerra, all on the "unconfirmed but likely" list.
